When I had palsaik, eight serves of belly pork in eight marinades, I was in hog's heaven. Last night, at Angel Falls Grill, I had an even better experience.
A family birthday celebration provided an excuse to try a restaurant that I had walked past many times and wanted to try.
The six of us rocked up on a blustery and drizzly night. It was good we had booked well ahead as it was packed. A tip: Book online. You'll get a reference number and an email to confirm your booking.
As there were six of us we opted to order a bunch of dishes, with the help of our friendly waiter, so that we would get a good range of food. Some duplication was unavoidable but we had chicken, pork, beef, prawns, and squid with a variety of corn breads, pancakes and fried plantains. There were three dipping sauces, all of which were good.
If you love meat, this is a good place to eat. We especially enjoyed the beef which was cooked to perfection, tender, juicy, and full of taste. The pulled pork and chicken was pretty good too but the beef was outstanding. If you go as a couple, I guess you will have to make multiple visits to try it all
We had a decent Australian rose and an excellent Venezuelan red, the Ventisquero Reserva Carmenere, which was a perfect accompaniment to the delicious meats.
We finished with desserts, two tres leche and a quesillo, that we shared. It was a pretty rich finish to a great meat meal.
Angel Falls serves cocktails and has a good wine list of wines from different countries.
Service was efficient and friendly.
Credit cards are accepted and there is paid parking nearby.
