“July Stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2007

We stayed at the Frangipani in July this year. It is situated about 1.5 km from Cable Beach proper so to walk to the beach and then have a walk aong the beach you are covering a fair distance. A hire car is a good move and we hired one when we stayed. The grounds are still new and will be good when the plants are more mature. The pool area is very nice and the sun lounges are great. The rooms themselves are very well appointed with modern appliances. There are two air conditioners in each 1 bed apartment and a fan on the porch. The only things that we felt that could be improved upon were : there should be a mid week service of the apartments to change towels / sheets etc. You can pay more for this but for the rate that is charged for the rooms this should be included. The cleaning of the rooms could be done better as we found quite a bit of dust on the mirror frames and a few other places. The outdoor shower is good but it does need a thatch roof if you want a shower in the wet season. It will be interesting to see how the grounds shape up as it appeared that there was nobody actually looking after them with leaves not being raked etc. However the resort is only new and about the same stage as the Sanctuary Resort ie second stage just completed. We had a look at the Sanctuary rooms and would much prefer the Frangipani or Blue Seas Resort. Sanctuary is a self rated resort and from what we saw, charging top price for a moderate resort.

The Frangipani Resort is fantastic, to say the least. We ended up staying there for three days out of our 26 day Aussi tour. The resort has spanking new, well equiped, clean and luxury feel apartments which include a plasma TV and an amazing Weber BBQ. The pool area is clean and well exquiped with canopies, umbrellas and plently of comfortable chaise lounge chairs. The staff was extremely helpful and promptly set up tours, a car rental we requested (which was delivered to us as the resort in less than 30minutes), and various other requests (ie. extra blankets, soap). Cable beach is only a 10-15min walk from the resort, with the Zoo Cafè within reach. I would definately recommend this resort as price/quality, details and attentive service are excellent!!!!

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Broome. For the last three days of the holiday we stayed at the wonderful Frangipani.

This a new resort near Cable Beach which has been beautifully done. The apartments were well equipped and had a really luxurious feel to them (four poster bed, plasma TV, Webber BBQ, outdoor shower). The decor was very tasteful and I think they offer really good value compared to what else is offered in Broome.

Finding accommodation in Broome which is not incredibly expensive (and sometimes disappointing) and also good quality is not that easy but I think the Frangipani offer both. I'm sure when they become more well known they will prove to be very popular and no doubt prices will increase!

We were offered an early 11am check in which was very helpful and also meant we had the whole day to enjoy the pool. The pool is really nice and there are lovely lounges and shade all the way around. In the whole time we were there the maximum number of people around the pool at any one time was six which was great. The gardens in the resort are also lovely and make all the apartments seem very private.

Its in a great location and within a 10 minute walk to the lovely Old Zoo Cafe (had a couple of great meals there and would highly recommend along with Cafe Carlotta which is a must if you can get in).

On the day of our departure our flight wasn't due to leave until 8pm. They couldn't offer us a late check out as they were busy which is perfectly understandable but they did say we could stay on as long as we like and use the pool. They can store your luggage for you and have shower/changing facilites for you to use which is great.

The only very slight negative I have to say was the fact that there is no blanket (only sheets) on the bed or in the room to use. The first night there we were quite chilly but they provided a blanket the next day and after that we were fine.

I would definitely return to the Frangipani in a flash. A great place to stay if you just want to chill out and not do much!!

I've stayed in Broome about 7 times now (three times for holiday and the rest for business) and I can honestly say this is the nicest hotel I've stayed at (my other reviews of Broome hotels are Moonlight Bay Suites and Mangrove Hotel which are both nice but not as nice as this one).

The property has recently opened and is very modern inside with modern furniture, quality fittings and is fully self -contained. We had a three bedroom hotel and one half of it is able to be shut off which is good if you have kids sleeping or other guests and you want your privacy.
The hotel also has a bbq and an outdoor lounge and setting. The pool is magnificent and set amongst lots of frangipanis and mango trees with beautiful gazebos around it and even a bbq if you want to cook while the kids swim etc.
The best part about the rooms were the outdoor showers. Before you think 'What?' which is what i did at first, let me explain. They are attached to the main bedroom so its like an ensuite but you just walk out outside and they are fully enclosed walls but with no roof. Broome never gets cold and hardly rains so this is a great idea for this climate.
The rooms were spotlessly clean and the reception staff were very friendly and very efficient and they had also gone to our room and turned on the aircon just prior to our arrival which was very thoughtful of them. The bed was really big and comfortable (not sure if all rooms have this but ours had a big four poster bed with lots of pillows).
I'm trying to think of some negatives but there weren't any. The only one small thing i can say is that they apartments are serviced weekly and I wanted fresh towels and had to pay $1 for each new towel which I thought should have been explained at th start to me (before I threw the towels on the floor) but that is a tiny negative point compared to the great service we received and the cleanliness of the rooms. If you are worried about the servicing only been done once a week, there is a dishwasher and washing machine in there too.
Lastly, the location: this property is right near the Cable Beach club although it is not right on the beach like Cable Beach club. We had a car but the front staff told us it was only about a 10 minute walk to Cable Beach (i think it may even be less). We really liked the location.
If you are thinking of whether Broome is worth going to, here are my thoughts:
It is a really nice place to visit and there are lots of tourist attractions such as Malcolm Douglas' crocodile park which is a must, the Willie Creek Pearl tour which is absolutely fantastic even if you aren't into pearls, Matso's Brewery (we didn't have the best service there two nights ago but really good curry nights there and they make great beers). An excellent restaurant there is the Zoo Cafe which I've eaten at a lot and had great food each time. Apparently Carlottas is fantastic too but I haven't been there to recommend it. The other thing I would recommend its a camel tour on Cable Beach - really good fun.
The only thing I didn't like about Broome is that the town centre itself is littered wtih rubbish. THe main oval in the town is an eyesore and is a terrible thing when you drive/fly in to Broome. We had guests with us who had never been to Broome and that was the first thing they saw and said 'where have we come?' Its very sad that they are letting Broome get like this. It put us off into going into Chinatown (the main centre part).
As for the hotel - loved it and would definetely stay there again and I highly recommend it to anyone with families or couples travelling together.
