We last stayed here in October 2012 and were happy to stay here again because of the overall reasonable value for money and location. Refurbishments had commenced last year and continue ... slowly. It is obvious that there are cash flow issues that are delaying the timely completion of works. Rooms / apartments are so differently equipped in terms of content and standards. While the last stay was comfortable, this time the unit I occupied had the most uncomfortable lounge on earth. A couple of lights did not work ... Housekeeping staff should have noticed this during their daily cleans. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was in desperate need of a clean. Dining table had a large burn mark. Outside, tiling works are in progress (well, they have been ripped up and no sign of workers replacing them) diminishing the appearance of the place. Rather than progress over the last year, it seems to have gone backwards. Would I stay again? Possibly. However, I would look at alternatives before booking.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. As a repeat guest it is very disappointing to read that your recent visit did not meet your expectations.

As you can appreciate renovating and refurbishing a resort is a very time consuming project. It was at management’s decision to hold off on completing the renovations and refurbishment to ensure that at full capacity over the busy season our guests were not caused any discomfort or inconvenienced by renovations. I can confirm that there are absolutely no ‘cash flow issues’ as mentioned and that we are very active in finishing the property renovations and moving soon to in-room refurbishments.

In regards to the tiling we are laying a composite decking on all apartment balconies and patios but again, due to a busy peak season we chose to hold off on such works concerned that guests might find this as an inconvenience. We anticipate having all of the renovations finished over this coming low season and we will also be addressing the interior refurbishments over the coming months.

I certainly do hope that we can welcome you back to the property again soon once we have completed all the necessary upgrades and improvements to the resort.

No towels for the pool. No food or drinks available between 9am and 6 pm. Furniture in rooms poor, could not sit on lounge. Gas bottles for BBQ empty in three apartments. Staff unhelpful at breakfast. Beds good.

Many thanks for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay with us. We do apologise if at times we were low or out of pool towels, as it is our busy season and with 300+ guests in house at one time it can be difficult to turn over the pool towels as quickly as we would like.

In regards to the restaurant service between 9am – 6pm, there are very few resorts in Broome that offer this service and we do apologise that this wasn’t available to you during your stay. We are currently looking at different options to provide food facilities to our guests during the day. It is also disappointing to read that you found the breakfast staff unhelpful, I will pass this feedback onto our Food & Beverage Manager for further review.

In the coming months we will also be looking at options and plans to refurb the interior of the apartments as we do acknowledge that much of the furniture will need replacement very soon. We do apologise if you felt the couch was uncomfortable and I will certainly look into this further. In regards to the gas bottles, we don’t provide a new gas bottle for every booking, when the gas bottle runs out we then replace it and we do appreciate guests notifying us when the bottles are empty so these can be replaced immediately.

Again, thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay and hopefully we can look forward to welcoming you back to Oaks CBS again in the future.

We have stayed at this resort half a dozen times in the past 2 years, and although every other time has been great, this time was a let down. We paid top dollar due to it been a weekend and peak school holiday period, but certainly didn't get value for money. The TV cabinet and coffee tables had a heap of chips/scrape marks out of them, bed was rock hard, dinnerware was a bit stained and chipped, and walls and dining table chairs were quite dusty. The toilet also stopped working after a while, and on inspection we found parts of the cistern to be totally rusted out, only for the maintenance man (who actually came straight away, points there!) to once again temporarily repair it, only for the same thing to happen the following day.
On a positive note, the gardens and surrounds are always lovely to wander in, and the kids love the paths to be able to scooter around on. The pool was pretty cold, but that didn't bother the kids too much.

Many thanks for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. It is disappointing to read that you were unsatisfied with certain parts of your stay and we do apologise. We are in the planning stages of refurbishing the interior of the apartments as we do acknowledge that some of the furnishings are in need of replacement. We do apologise that you experienced issues with your toilet whilst in house however it is great to read that our maintenance team were able to assist with the problem immediately, unfortunate though that this was only a temporary measure and it remained a problem during your stay and again we do sincerely apologise.

It is great to read though that you found the gardens and grounds lovely and your kids were able to take full advantage of our grounds and swimming pools. As repeat guests to the resort we really do hope that we can welcome you back to Oaks Cable Beach Sanctuary again next time you visit Broome.

We booked Broome as a last minute trip in July school holidays. We booked accommodation without checking ratings or location. We were just happy to get some sort of accommodation in Broome during their peak season. So, imagine how thrilled we were to turn up to Oaks Sanctuary Broome to a friendly receptionist, beautiful accommodation and all within walking distance to Cable Beach - we thought we had hit the jackpot!! Our 4 days stay was wonderful - everything was clean and everyone was friendly. We are planning on returning to Broome later this year and this hotel will be at the top of our list! When you watch your 5 year old son walk into his hotel room and do his 'happy dance' you know it's going to be a good holiday!!

I am also very glad that as a family our property catered for your needs and most importantly your son was also very happy. We are very glad that you thoroughly enjoyed your time here and we most certainly look forward to welcoming you back later this year for another ‘happy dance!’

Overall we were disappointed at our experience at the Oaks Cable Beach. There were some positives: spacious rooms, comfortable beds, apartment had washing machine and dryer, polite and helpful staff, lovely surroundings and gardens, a quiet and relaxing spot.

However, on the negative side: the pool was very cold - not helpful when you have come for a relaxing holiday/conference and intend to swim daily as the temperatures were an average of 30 Degrees C. I was in the pool everyday anyway, as the beautilful Cable Beach is a 10 minute walk away, so if you need to cool off quickly or have young children, the pool is your best option. Everyone I spoke to also remarked at being surprised at how cold the pool was. The resort also seemed to lack a reasonable standard of maintenance. We found it difficult to walk from our unit at the back of the resort to the front, at night, as quite a few of the outside lights weren't working and it was difficult to see were you were going at times. Our unit which seemed pretty modern was a bit rough in places for example, holes in the bathroom wall where the towel rail had fallen off and been put back repeatedly. Both the loungers on the deck of our room were falllng apart. One had a large hole in it making it unuseable, so I asked if it could be replaced. It was taken away a day later, but wasn't replaced during our stay (a futher four days).
Overall, just average, and we probably wouldn't come back again.

Many thanks for posting a review on your recent stay with us. It is certainly disappointing to read that your stay with us did not meet your expectations or ours. Unfortunately Broome has experienced a colder than normal dry season and our swimming pools have been quite cool the past couple of months. Whilst it does average 30C this time of year during the day the nights are very cool which is why the water temperature drops over night. We do sincerely apologise but we are looking into options to heat the main pool so guests can take full advantage of our swimming facilities in the cooler months.

The property has only been part of the Oaks port folio for 12 months now and we are working as quickly as we can to upgrade the rooms and property. I do acknowledge that in some rooms the general wear and tear is substantial and we are addressing this. We are also slowly making our way through replacing items such as sun lounges and we do apologise that these weren’t replaced in your apartment prior to your stay.

On a positive note, it is great to read that you found our apartments spacious, beds comfortable, staff friendly and helpful and the grounds and gardens lovely. We do certainly hope to welcome you back to Oaks Cable Beach Sanctuary again in the future to take full advantage of our newly improved and renovated resort.
