“get in your 4x4 and drive!!”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

Nice smooth beach and you can drive for miles... be careful of the Turtles nesting areas though... driving closer to the water gives you a firmer footing and make sure you check the high tide timings... take a spade and look out for the nude freaks that somehow think it’s a nudist beach.. at least you’ll have a laugh... LOL

“Stunning Beach”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

I find beaches breathtaking!....the smell of the ocean, the sand between your toes, the sea breeze, the open expanse of rolling waves and water.
Cable Beach was named in honor of the Java to Australia undersea telegraph cable which reached the shore here on Cable Beach back in 1889.
The beach is 22 km's of pristine white sand, which is washed clean each day with the tides, which at times can reach over 9 m (30 ft). The water is crystal clear turquoise blue (the colour is amazing). It is revitalising just walking along breathing in the sea air.
The downfall of swimming at this stunning beach is that during the months of November through to March, box jellyfish are commonly present. These Irukandji Jellyfish are deadly.

Four wheel drive vehicles may be driven onto the beach from the car park, so we took our's for a drive along the beach at low tide.
They also run sunset camel rides daily along the beach.
Cable Beach is also one of Australia's most famous nudist beaches. The clothes optional area is to the north of the beach access road from the car park and continues to the mouth of Willie Creek, 17 km (11 mi) away....that's one BIG nudist beach!!!!
At Gantheaume Point, at the southern end of the beach, about 30mts out to sea, there are dinosaur footprints dated back they say to approx 130 million years ago, although the footprints can only be seen during very low tide.

Love this beach....right up there with the best beaches in the world!!!
