“Better hostels to stay at in Broome”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

I stayed here one night on a recent trip to Broome. I was in a dorm room. While I slept well (due to being exhausted on arrival), I felt sorry for everyone else in the dorms rooms. I had set my alarm for 6am as I was heading on a 12 day tour in the morning being picked up at 7am. Rather than just waking those in my room, due to the open concept roofs, I think I probably woke up every person staying in the dorm rooms! Sorry folks.

Found everyone to be very clique. There were lots of people staying here relatively long term and no one seemed to want to enter into conversation with newbies.

Location handy for airport (you can walk) but not handy for ether Broome or Cable Beach.

I wouldn't stay here again. Stayed at another hostel on the same trip and I would stay there again.

Traveled almost every continent and several countries, dealt with A LOT of terrible hostels, but this one takes the cake.

The staff are the main issue, very hostel, power hungry and bullies. They tried to kick out anyone who had an issue with the level of noise or problem with facilities. Not making this up, they literally took the opposite direction to correcting the problem. They went after those complaining.

Facilities also are not good, and most of the rooms have open concept roofs so that if you think your room is nice and quiet, its not. Its connected to all the other rooms and it only takes one person to wake EVERYONE up.

Just avoid all of this and stay somewhere else :)

Room Tip: private rooms didnt help.. anyone talking loudly can be heard through the entire quad style complex.

Really good atmosphere ,good quality price and nice little swimming pool!
Just the staff was a bit annoying and the Italian and the tall English dude were pretty idiots on a Wednesday just because everyone was partying and they were working..
Poor breakfast And the rooms are open on the top so you can hear 4 different rooms because the top of all the them are open with 6 bedrooms in it..imagine people snoring or chatting loudly, every one In the building can hear that.
Good for backpackers.nothing else.

Looked great on the internet. Staff not really interested - too busy chatting to each other and not interested in serving customers. Advertised as having a pool - this was unusable as needed a new pool liner. Room was dirty, floor had not been swept, communal showers for everyone but not enough for the number of people staying there and flthy. Smoking allowed in outside area, which was right next door to eating area. Could have stayed in a Hotel for what it cost for the two of us in a double room and facilities would have been much nicer and cleaner. Would not recommend, have stayed in much nicer hostels

Looked nice on the Internet , but the little man manager, was rude , staff divided between the bar or reception , leaving long waits for either. Smoking right by the pool ,pretty much no where to get away from it. The pool was allowed to get really dirty before finally getting cleaned. Couldn't hear the tv from the music from the bar. Rooms hot , air cons turned off early in the morning, and not turned on till late at night. Kitchen full of flies , fridges not working properly or fans. Stayed in a double room when I first arrived, wasn't cleaned the entire time I was there. Bathrooms closed in the morning for cleaning, laundry closed till about 1 . Guests had to work around the staff. Was a horrible experience ,would NEVER stay there again. Would not recommend .

Room Tip: The top rooms have a suspended roof, so you can here the people in the other rooms also you can here...

We stayed here for 2-3 nights in January 2013. It was an easy walk from the airport and the bus stop is right outside to go to Cable Beach (or to Town Beach, but I wouldn't bother!), so it's well located.

The kitchen was short on some utensils - only a couple of chopping boards for example, but plenty of fridges, hobs and sinks. There's a large tv area, table tennis, dining area and the pool was nice.

However, my lasting impression will be that of the bathrooms - they were all looked like they could do with a good scrub and there was a brown film over everything. The dorms all looked like they were overdue a refurb and the mattresses and pillows were pretty thin. You also have to put $1 coins into the air con - the only place in Aus we've had to pay extra.

Service at the bar and reception was hit and miss depending who was on.

This is probably my least favourite YHA that I've ever stayed in (and I've stayed in plenty). I don't think it would take too much to improve it.

We checked in 21/22 Dec 2012. We were greeted by the lovely Karin - very friendly and most helpful that we decided to stay two nights. A nice social environment with a centralized bar, pool, kitchen and dining area. The only issues I had were a coin-operated A/C in the 6/8 bed dorms - $1 for maybe 3 hours; in 35-38 degree temperatures - A/C is really compulsory!

Room Tip: Excellent service! Very lovely female receptionist.
