I have to say, I was quite surprised to see some of the negative comments with Cable Beach. We have just returned from an unforgettably wonderful holiday. We made the effort and traveled the long flight from Sydney and it was well worth it.

The resort had fantastic food and lot's of it. Great wine and the service was extremely friendly, helpful and of a high standard. The location would be the best in all of Broome.

We loved the fact that the resort caters for couples and has an adults only pool with it's own bar and restaurant. our room overlooked the adults only pool and it was always quiet.

The weather was a wonderful sunny humid 38 deg every day (which we love). I was also impressed they included free internet to guests.

Broome is defintately a place you should put on your agenda to visit. The colours and landscape are just stunning and the people in Broome are warm and friendly and very welcoming to tourists.

Do yourself a favour and go!

The location should mean that this hotel is the creme dela creme however the food and the professionalism let the whole hotel down - how hard is it to make sure food is cooked and drinks are cold?
I had been looking forward to my first trip to Broome and this hotel in particular having read so many great reviews on this website. I am sorry to say that the hotel was let down by the attitude and professionalism of it's staff and managers.
The architecture is fantastic however the ambience it was attempting to create was not backed up with their service. Table service was slow and the quality of the food was not to the standard I would have expected.
The food in particular was poor and the I fail to see how a resort hotel that endeavours to embody a holistic holiday experience thinks that serving hot chips with everything is holistic. Don't plan to eat there if you are looking for fresh local fish!

I didnt think I would be writing a bad review of Cable Beach Resort but I am! Cable Beach is a nice location, the family pool is gorgeous but thats it. Rooms are small and outside areas are not clean. The service is poor and unreliable. The food was mediocre and the menus unimaginative. It is over priced and over rated and for a four star hotel did not live up to our expectations. It started off well, the hotel has a complimentary bus from the airport to the hotel and provides cold towels to freshen up -and we needed it.
ROOMS: Check in was quick and we were taken to our room. For $350 a night we were disappointed. The room was small and decor was dated. The shower and bathroom were small. The verandah outside was nice but the cushions on the days bed were all ripped and dirty.
ROOM SERVICE We ordered room service as our 6 months old baby was asleep and this is where the problems began. I had a chicken dish that when received i found the chicken was raw, i returned it and asked for a replacement, the second dish was also raw it was also returned. At $30 a dish i expected more. Give Cable Beach some credit they refunded the money and provided a bottle of sparkling as an apology.
SERVICE We went to sunset bar cafe for some food and drinks in the evening, the service was painfully slow. It took 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive and the bar was empty. This was the case most days even at the family pool you would wait 10 minutes to get your drink and on more than 5 occassions they bar staff "forgot" where we were sitting and my husband would retrieve the drinks from the bar ourselves.
On our second day we went to the sunset bar for breakfast - the breakfasts were lovely. It was only when we went to pay we found out breakfast was included in our rate - it wasnt on our booking reference, reception didnt tell us, it was just by chance we went there. When we asked at reception they just said that they didnt know!
CHECKOUT With a 6 month old we wanted a late checkout and was told it would cost $350 to have the room for an extra 4 hrs, ridiculous, apparently its because housekeeping finish at 4! We paid $150 for an extra 3 hours. On the day of checkout we found we were locked out of our room - Reception had "forgot" we had booked a late checkout (funny they didnt forget to charge us $150 for it!) and we waited 25 mins to have the key card redone. When we were in our room (baby asleep) housekeeping tried to get in the clean the room for checkout - we had a do not disturb sign on the door but they still banged on the door. Our baby woke up and when my husband complained to the duty manager he didnt even get an apology. When we eventually did check out we called conceirge to remove our bags, when we left the room they still hadnt been collected. we asked again for the bags to be removed and the guy did not have a clue what we were talking about, after three attempts the bags finally appeared.
When paying the bill we noticed that the mini bar bill was wrong, they had extra charges on it from what we used. When we queried, i asked what it was, the receptionist wouldnt tell me and removed it without a sorry... its was an extra $60 with no explanation.

We were extremely dissapointed with this hotel. it is not 4 star, the service was terrible and totally overpriced. we paid over $1400 for 4 days and it was not worth it. We would not go back or recommend it.

GOOD THINGS IN BROOME:
Old Zoo Cafe - great food great service
Divers Tavern - great pub, fab food
Willie Creek Pearl Farm - def worth the tour, informative and the shop is fantastic
Cable beach - beautiful, amazing sunsets

Another customer conference ..... not awe inspired on the lengthy trip from Brisbane but on arrival at this colonial outpost my attitude changed so quickly. What an awesome setting , great staff , laid back feel to the whole resort area , the rooms were somewhat quirky compared to the usual 5 star fare across the country, but this added to the charm. The real stand out was the attitude of the staff , they could not have been more helpful and they really showed a genuine desire to 1) be there! 2) impress the customer 3) follow through with quailty food . An evening watching the sunset just a short stroll away from my new home with colleagues reminded me to visit again but with a personal agenda in mind.

Beautiful place to stay but you need to be careful what time of year you stay. We stayed in November and it is really touch and go, the week we were up there the weather was beautiful 35 degree days but the week afer we left Broome experienced severe thunderstorms.

The hotel doesn't look 5 star when you first arrive but once you see the facilities and explore the place it truly is a 5 star resort. The hotel resaurants aren't cheap but neither are the local resaurants. Every day we sat and watched the sunset over the water at the sunset bar and enjoyed a couple of drinks - it is very romantic.

We received the 4 nights for 5 package with 2 days car hire. This package is well worth the money however teh car hire is a bit of a joke. You get a tiny Getz car for free which under normal circumstances isn't bad but in Broome 90% of the roads are red dirt and a Getz is useless.

Don't be put off by the family focus on the website if you don't have kids because they have a dedicated adult zone with your own pool, bar and amenities, so its perfect for those people who just want to hear the sound of the wind. However in saying that the family zone looked very inviting for families with kids.
