Owner description: The Broome Historical Society speaks through photographs, subject albums and visual displays at the Museum to provide visitors with an understanding of Broome from its rough and ready early days to its emergence as a world centre for cultured pearling. Broome was the first truly multicultural district in Australia; Aboriginal, Japanese, Chinese and Europeans have all contributed to Broome's very diverse cultural history and the Museum, in its exhibits and its albums reflects this richness. Visitors will learn about Pearling and Luggers, Exploitation and Exploration, Adventures, Hardships and Mateship, Asian and Europeans; Riots, Shipwrecks and Missing Diamonds; and Japanese attack on Broome in World War II.

my grandma recently came up for a visit, so doing all the usual tourist stuff we paid a visit to the museum. at $5 entry it was a bargain and a half for the amount of information and things on display.

its well set up and flows in a timeline and includes every single era of broomes history. i was well and truly impressed!

The small museum is packed with memorabilia and interesting displays depicting to an era of courageous men who lived a life of danger and fortune. We learned more there about pearling and Brome and it's history than any of the other tours and activities provided in Broome. The volunteer staff were helpful and very friendly. The entrance fee is so small for such a fascinating museum.

Only $5 entry or $3 for a senior, this a money well spent. It's not large but it's packed with Broome memorabilia. The display is somewhat jumbled but it's all worth viewing. Especially the exhibits of the day Broome was bombed. If you want to understand something of the history of the town it's well worth a visit. Camera is ok, just no flash.

What a great little find, lots of great interactive displays, great history. Opens at odd times, and is a bit off the beaten track
