We did not have a car in Broome. We got the one and only local bus out to the point early morning. We walked a short way along the road to the point and lighthouse. The view from there is spectacular. The contrast of the red rock and aqua sea was amazing. The rock formations were amazing. It was nice to see it from the land after having done the sea kayak tour the day before and we went past the cliff edges in sea. We then walked back along the road to the entrance to the beach at the point and made a slow amble back to Cable Beach. It is 6 km from there and we walked, swam(dipped in avoiding the brown jellyfish that fortunately do not give you a real sting), picnicked, walked, swam all the way back.

Must go at low tide and watch out for the slippery rocks. Don't go too close to the water, there are strong tides in this area.

If you time your visit to Broome right you can see dinosaur footprints on a very low tide. You'll have to be up early; get there half an hour before the low tide and make sure you have the map from the visitors centre and a compass in hand. You can easily see the lighthouse from the fossilised footprints and you can take your bearings from that. We met a couple who had lookedthe previous day and hadn't found them. With about 20 people down there the day we were there it wasn't long before someone spotted them

We had previously been here by bus. We tried the kayak tour this time and what a gem...highly recommend ...no muscle soreness the next day. Thanks Belinda at Adventure Company
