“Where a local chooses to stay. Best Value for Money.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2010

I am from a town close to Broome - and this is where I choose to stay - for the best value for money. Its beautiful, clean, modern & lovely. Apartment rooms have spa's and self contained kitchens. All I can say is Excellent. Look no further!

Rate this hotel very highly not only did they accomodate a big mistake on our part by booking the incorrect night and change it around for us without argument the check in process was simple and quick, room was an absolute delight right next to the pool. Noise level was little to none we had such a peaceful sleep. Room was clean, fresh and well fitted out with a CD player and TV. An Outdoor area for us to sit out and have a drink or two.
Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to stay in Broome. Close to the main part of broome literally a five minute drive to most things.

We had 3 days in Broome for a wedding and just loved this hotel. The staff were extra friendly and helpful - couldn't do enough.
Our room was just off the pool, very large and a great bathroom. Even though it was just my husband and myself we had a large kitchen and lounge area.
Extra quiet and very clean and tidy pool area.
Would stay again and have already recommended this to family and friends.
We didn't have breakfast included and walked about 5 minutes to Town Beach for a fantastic breakfast - this place was recommended to us by some friendly locals we shared a taxi with back from Cable Beach Resort.

Context: Couple (Male / Female) Professionals in their early 30's for 10 days stay in Broome for complete relaxation.

Like most of the reviews and advice about Broome, make sure you know what holiday you are after.... we only wanted hot weather and to relax.

1. The Hotel Check-In
- Fine no problems; just like a city hotel
Access to the room is via a electronic Card

2. The Room - Guest Room
- Sorry to say, but if you are staying any longer than 1 night and for leisure, I cannot recommend any of these rooms. They have been designed (see photos) to have 1 entrance which splits into two rooms. Each time someone leaves or enters, the door noise is loud (fire doors need to shut). If you are unlucky enough to have
someone staying in the other room, you pretty much hear everything that goes on, kitchen, talking, TV. After the 2nd night we had to advise reception of the problem and were prepared to leave. All the outside rooms face the roads, Robinson is quite busy, and if you are on ground floor, there are no locks on the screen doors, only the main glass doors. We were however upgraded to a 1 bedroom overlooking the smaller pools - which, in fairness, is a nice room. The beds are great here - most of the other reviews confirm this too.

3. Facilities - Pool
- Both pools are quite nice, although the pictures in the mags are taken at night when everything is lit up.
Pool loungers are comfortable and new. As with most pools in complexes in Broome, they only open sunrise to sunset, and so you dont get to swim in a pool thats lit up - real shame. I did notice someone in another review asking for a bar in the pools, but Oaks really IMO is not a holiday resort per say, and wouldnt suit the culture. Cable Beach Resort does have this for those who want to have a drink and swim by the pool.

4. Facilities - Restaurant
- We only had 2 meals here, both were pretty good, but expensive. We are not wine people but the wine we had was a bit poor - one glass came from a bad bottle. To their credit they gave us another drink - the service was always good.

All places are expensive to eat out; be prepaid though, if you are coming to Broome to eat Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner it's very expensive. For our 10 days we spent 1200 on food - and that includes eating 7 time breakfeast in our rooms after trips to Coles. At the Wharf restaurant one meal (Battered Barra, Rice x2 plus a greek salad) cost $80.00. A good option is to order take-away from SomThai and eat at your room or watch the sunset.

5. Location (Street Map attached).
Oaks is close to the Airport and near to the town centre and around a 10 min drive to Cable Beach. In our opinion, you def need a car in Broome, unless you are at Cable Beach Resort, but then you are stuck with all only their food (expensive) and others close by.

Car hire cost us $550.00 for 10 days - expensive, but we were glad we did it. Next time, we'll hire the car later in the holiday i.e. relax a few days in the rooms and then hire a car. Oaks is about a good 20-30 min walk to the city, even though we could have, we somehow didnt feel safe to actually do the walk, hence the need for the car.

6 Overall.
If you have a room overlooking the pool - Ground floor would be good, then a nice place to stay and price is not to bad. You will however have to travel a bit to the main beach which can become a pain. You are 5mins to city by car.

Therefore, if all you want is to stay at the pool, eat in the restaurant and have no car - then great. There is a bus service, but on holiday, do you really want to spend 30-40 mins on an old bus in 30-35 degree heat travelling around - probably not.

btw Broome has no traffic lights

Good Places to eat:-
Oaks Sunday Feast - all you can eat sunday roast - very good!
SomThai (eat a few times and then get takeaway - beef is brill / dont order the fish)
Land of Pharohs (in city nr coles) - Falafels hmmm
Aaril Restaurant
Dragonfly for Coffee - but its expensive - 9.60 for 2 soy flat whites

Bad Places:
Dont get a burger from the hut where the sun set is - almost made me ill; cheap meat, chees, bread and costs almost $15.00

as regular visitors to broome we have stayed at several hotel / apartments.room was booked on wot-if at a great rate.found our stay and the complex to be excellent. only complaint we would have is slow service if sitting at an outside table.(but not bad enough to complain about, only to each other)...meals were very good and location is a nice change from cable beach.......bus at door anyway..you can tell a clean room by the dust on the ceiling fans........there was none...........thanks

This is the 1st time I have ever written a review on anything, however I regularly read them so thought after my stay at the Oaks I should contribute.

The Tranquil setting, perfect location, neat and tidy rooms make for a perfect stay and to top it off I thought the pricing of the rooms was superb. I suggest staying in a Villa on ground floor with your own cooking facilities, Lounge, Bed room and Bathroom which includes Spa which opens up into the Bedroom.

Plus your own table, chairs and Lounger on the outside pation which once you open pool gate is 3 steps from the pool
