“A forest get-away”
Reviewed January 8, 2012

Hosts Pam & Charlie are a very obliging and friendly couple, ensuring that your stay is enjoyable. The cottages have all the facilities required for the 4 adults and our dog during our 5 day stay - they were clean & comfortable. We most certainly enjoyed the two complimentary bottles of Shiraz upon our arrival and bought a case of their 2003 Pinot Noir (at a special discounted price for guests). The cottages are well located and central to all major attractions with the added bonus of being able to buy the local produce direct from the growers themmselves as you drive around the area - can't get any fresher than that !

The coattages themselves (two only) are located right on the edge of the forest and we had many different species of birds to listen to early in morning and on dusk - very serene. Pemberton town is only a short 10km trip and drop into the visitors centre to find out about all the activities and attractions, local maps, wineries etc. The town has all the shops that one requires to buy supplies, have a coffee, enjoy a cold beer or buy the paper.

We certainly enjoyed our stay and without question, we will be back.

Perfect accommodation for a relaxing get-away from the city - two cottages buried in the Pemberton karri forest about 12 km drive from the town in a gorgeous private setting. Cottages are clean and comfortable with stove top and microwave, barbecue, wood fire, reverse cycle aircon, and portable oil heater to cater for all weather and all preferences - we used all at different times over a 6 night stay in Dec/Jan! Sleeping in the loft room is like being suspended in the forest canopy, with private balcony looking right into the trees. The early morning call from local birdlife and the evening cicadas and frogs from the nearby dam top the experience off. 'Deep Forest' cottage easily accommodated my husband and me, my mum (in the downstairs room which also looks straight out to the forest) and our boxer dog - dog bowls provided and dogs allowed inside (but not on the furniture!). The owners, Pam and Charlie, are wonderful and make sure you have everything you need without being instrusive - and their 2003 Pinot is the best in the region!

Blue Loft is centrally located to all SW attractions - forest walks, kayaking, 4WD adventures, swimming and wineries. Silkwood Winery just up the road is a great place for lunch, and Tangletoes Cidery almost opposite is a lovely spot for a relaxing afternoon drink. Pemberton itself is small and pretty, with a good sized IGA, general store and newsagency/post office, plus some lovely cafes. Frest caught marron and rainbow trout are the local gourmet specialities. Big Brook Dam is a 10 mins drive through the forest, or it you just fancy a short stroll head down to the dam on the property, via well cleared walk trails direct from the cottages.

This was our fourth stay in six years. Our favourite dog friendly accommodation in the SW - without a doubt (and we've tried most of them)!

Room Tip: Deep Forest Cottage is further into the forest - if you prefer the option of a more open aspect go f...

The website for these Cottages indicated comfortable Orthopaedic beds, I have never slept as badly and nearly couldn't walk the next day. The Cottages are also old and small. The BBQ had not been cleaned for some time. We stayed during hot weather and the airconditioning had trouble keeping up.

Thank you for taking time to write a review. To ensure that future guests are not inconvenienced we have changed the offending mattress although we did not receive any complaints previously.
I would like to know why you did not see us with your concerns when you were staying with us. When my wife was satting the aircon. to cooling mode when you had it on heat mode would have been the perfect time to bring her attention to the mattress. The cottages are 12 years old and as they are 2 storey we are limited as to the actual overall floor space by the shire building code for short stay accommodation.
We hope your remaining time in Wa was a more pleasant experience.
