This used to be a really good place but I think with changes in management, attitudes and service levels have changed too. While it is still a reasonable place to take guests who want Chinese food (which is not Cantonese), and has a variety of Szechuan and Western Region Chinese dishes, it is not the best in Melbourne.
The atmosphere is really lovely here and it is tastefully decorated. It is also really easy to get to for tourists in the city. The service is unpretentious but could be a bit more attentive.
In terms of food, there's a good range of Chinese cuisine here and I have written a more detailed discussion of the cuisine and dishes in my blog: http://asianfoodmelb.blogspot.com.au/2013/02/bok-choy-tang.html
Make no mistake, it is a pretty nice place to dine. I really want to like this place and continue to go because I am sure it will rediscover its old glory days soon.
