Wow is all I can say, dined with friends for a 50th bday in a private room. Service was outstanding and the food could not be faulted. Highly recommended.

The weather was alittle cit chilly so we had a table inside. The owner tried to sell his most expensive bottle of wine to us but we want to see the winelist. So we took a good bottle of wine and prawn spring rolls and oysters. Main dish: the meat was also good. Service of the female staff member was very friendly. At walking distance of our hotel this was a good choice.

I've previously written a review on this restaurant where I gave a 5star rating but mentioned that we didn't like the manner of a waitress. Well, we went back again and the food was still wonderful, they obviously have a very competent Chef who knows how to prepare and cook seafood to perfection. Yet, there's something wrong at the front of house, the attitude of the female waitress (a different one from my previous review) is really strange, it's as though she doesn't actually want to be there, like she has a chip on her shoulder...not rude and you can draw an occasional smile but definately not warm and welcoming. Maybe we'd fare better with a mediterranean accent! A previous reviewer said she was " a bit snarky" maybe that's the word!
There are too many other restaurants in Melbourne who make you feel welcome, I think I've visited the Box for the last time.

We booked to eat dnner there prior to seeing a late show. Upstairs, the restaurant certainly is a 'box' shape, much like eating in a shipping container, narrow with tables on either side, no windows but subdued lighting ( remember to bring spectacles to see the menu) with attentive service.

On the plus side, my oysters kilpatrick were the BEST with a rich, thick, tomato and bacon sauce. The risotto marinara was so tasty as well with ample seafood throughout. Moscato was moreish as were the cocktails, if a little light on the alcohol. On the downside, the garlic and herb bread looked like scones and were very dry and tasteless. But that was really the only disappointment of the night.

Pricey, yes, but the seafood is fresh and delicious. Don't come for the view as there is none, unless you get a table outisde on the street, or one of the few window tables downstairs.

Felt like we were putting them out by being there! The waitress had attitude and it wasn't in our favour. Felt like we had to tiptoe around her feelings so that she would be nice to us. While the seafood was cooked beautifully it was also over priced. The steak was not cooked to order and not worth the investment. Very good at suggestive selling and pushing the bill up! Would not go back or bother again.
