This is a great place. Wonderful atmosphere and wonderful food. Lamb shanks to die for and pizza amazing. Would have loved dessert but no room left. Even the house wine was lovely.
Being June we expected it might be a little cool as it has awnings above the laneway. No problem the heaters were amazing.
We also found this restaurant by accident and so glad we gave it a try.

We found this restaurant almost by accident when we dived down an alleyway near our hotel to avoid the rain......Very atmospheric and we gathered it was part of the old Post Office where the trucks (and maybe horses in a bygone era), used. We were very grateful for the heaters as it would have been freezing otherwise.
We were sold when we saw paella on the menu and, what a paella it is!! It is a lot bigger than it appears and we both agreed, great value for money when you considered how much seafood, chicken etc was actually in it.
We went back again and this time had different choices. The service and food was just as good the 2nd time around.
Highly recommended and catered for everyone -there was a huge family group there of all ages making a meal of various pizzas, dips and breads.

It's such a great setting and a brilliant location, this place is the one that we go back to again and again.

There bread is fantastic and all the other food and coffee is great too.

I just love that it is built into the old workers lane-way for the Old GPO (General Post Office)

The service was good. The food was fantastic.. The cocktails were to die for.. Okay, so the cocktails didn't come in the fancy glasses that we all like - if they did that - they would be over the moon. But the cocktails were delicious and well worth it, that who cares about a fancy glass!!!

I had the red snapper with a tomato based sauce and potatoes. My meal also came with mussels in it, which wasn't on the menu. Now, I don't particularly eat mussels, but if you do, what an awesome surprise without knowing it. My companions had pasta and risotto..

The restaurant seemed to have an Italian/Greek style with what they had on the menu.

The guy who made our cocktails came to our table to ask how everything was (he wasn't our waiter), so that was really nice. And he can make a cocktail.

The restaurant is located on a beautiful covered outdoor strip at the old Post Office in Melbourne, around Bourke/Elizabeth Street. It took us a while to find the place, and we only knew it was there because we had walked down here during a Chocolate Walk Tour run by Chocoholic Tours (www.chocoholictours.com.au).

Would definitely go back to this restaurant...

I found this restaurant on trip advisor and asked the concierge about it but they were unaware of it. The location is not obvious, but it is well worth the hunt. The staff and setting are reminiscent of a small Mediterranean cafe in Nice. The food is excellent and the house wine, although the cheapest s was fantastic. The crime brûlée is really for two although the menu does not say it. I recommend this for anyone traveling to Melbourne.
