I dined here with a relaxed group of work colleagues, on the recommendation of a mutual friend of the group. The venue was somewhat downmarket to expectations, but the prices reflected this.
The food we were able to order was well executed and enjoyable, quite out of the usual frame of Australian Japanese restaurants - so is worth trying. And the range of craft Japanese beers and more common ales was a nice surprise.
The big weakness appeared when we came to order. After settling in and planning our shared order over a beer, we were told first that the sashimi was not available, and then that their specialty oyster dishes were also unavailable. It was disappointing, given these are signature dishes of the house, for them to be off the menu - not even just sold out, but not on that night at all!
The table service was friendly, but rather disorganised.
Overall a pleasant experience of interesting foods, but not up to the usual Japanese level of meticulous organisation and service!
