We arrived early at Longrain on a Thursday night for a meal before attending one of the nearby theatres. We were waiting for friends to arrive so ordered some drinks. I didn't expect the pre-dinner drinks to be such a highlight. I ordered a "Bloody Longrain", the restaurant's Thai version of the classic Bloody Mary. I think the classic version of the bloody mary should take note of this delectable hot and spicy concoction. It was the perfect way to start our meal. We started with the betel leaf, blue swimmer crab, curry powder, ginger and chilli. Delicious! Followed by a range of mains of whole trout, duck and scallops with steamed green vegetables and jasmine rice. Once again the dishes were well presented and gave us all the Asian flavors of hot, sour,
salty and sweet.
We shared a dessert, a cardamon creme with blood orange jelly and roasted ginger. A light and refreshing way to finish our meal. We have been coming to Longrain for several years and have never been disappointed. Longrain is the complete package when it comes to modern Thai dining. Great decor and atmosphere, professional, attentive and friendly staff and great food. I almost forgot the cocktails, particularly the Bloody Longrain.
