Description: Upon opening our doors in 2009, we were thrilled to receive the The Age Good Food Guide's 'HatAward' and have maintained it ever since. Complementing these achievements, we are very proud of Head Sommelier, Travis Howe, who not only won Sommelier of the Year but also picked up the 2013 Wine List of the Year. Nestled in one of Melbourne's iconic laneways (basement Oliver Lane, and Flinders Lane), Coda is located in the busiest and most dynamic culinary precinct the city has to offer. A stone's throw away from the Yarra River, Flinders Street station and Federation Square, the restaurant enjoys hosting a diverse group of diners from frequenting locals who live and work on its doorstep to diners from all over the globe. Upon entering the restaurant you will be greeted by a member of our friendly team headed by Mykal and Kate Bartholomew and Executive Chef Adam D'Sylva. The trio has assembled a dedicated team with highly sought-after experience from many international and Melbourne-based restaurants. Coda's relaxed environment provides a versatile setting for a range of engagements. Whatever your occasion - from a quick pre-football meal, to a long Sunday lunch, business dining or a cosy seat for an anniversary - we look forward to your visit. While bookings are highly recommended, patrons without a reservation can enjoy the full menu at the bar.

I was taken here for a celebration - for having completed a very long project by a publisher. I nearly missed the venue, as the street frontage is not prominent, but once located - it is a dynamic space, terrific atmosphere - and a place o do a lot of sharing and sampling of food.

Coda (music), a passage which brings a movement or piece to a conclusion through prolongation

Enough of the education!

A funky half basement restaurant bought to you by the team from Movida (excellent tapas style), which is close by.

A sharing concept works well, with the quail lettuce delight and tempura bugs a real highlight Lamb cutlets were good, but not a standout. Who would have thought of putting a scallop on tapioca!... and they were great.

Very extensive wine list including a good range of French wines including a few nice Cote De Rhone(s) and Oceans 8 pinot is worth a tipple.

Service is sharp and friendly and they turn the tables over regularly - bookings essential.

Not a cheap eatery but very good value nonetheless.

There are several excellent restaurants on Flinders Lane and this is yet another good one. Part loud bar part formal restaurant part tapas grazing location. I had quail in lettuce, tempura bugs (Morton Bay bugs as far as I could tell), yellow fin tuna and oysters - all were great. Over enjoyed the Sauterne dessert wine (bad for wallet and head next day).

Another will definitely go back place - if you can get a table - a great example of modern Ozzie cooking.

delicious small serves at the bar' lively local (not touristy restaurant) but hard to get a table. We sat at the bar which was good as we could see the bustling kitchen; its at the business end of the city so there are business types drinking expensive beer; there are better places for just drinking - go for the ood.
