Ibis Budget Melbourne CBD

As usual at Australian branches of Ibis Budget hotels, this place was pretty much what you pay for and no less. Clean, comfortable, quiet enough, everything works properly, but basic - more or less pod-rooms with no frills or extra space. Very convenient location to both train stations, the Vic market, Chinatown, etc. I've stayed in cheap hotels quite a bit in Melbourne and I don't think there's better value downtown. Sadly that's just how expensive Australia is. But bear in mind with this chain you get big discounts for booking 20 days ahead of time.

I was really impressed with this hotel. It's one of the cheapest options, yet offers a super location - 3 mins walk from Flinders Street Station. Rooms are clean, were serviced daily and the hotel was secure and modern. Staff on reception were consistently far more helpful and friendly than expected for a budget hotel.

We stayed in a 4 bed/quad room - some of the group were a little surprised by the shower, which leads directly off the bedroom rather than being within a separate bathroom.

I would certainly recommend this hotel - we stayed for 6 nights and as a base it was perfect.

Great place to stay - right in the centre of town - easy to get to from any incoming point, and great access to the Melbourne nightlife!
The rooms are small, but have everything you need - a comfy bed, and toilet, shower and sink and a TV. The only thing I missed was a bar fridge and kettle in the room - but then there is a tea and coffee machine in the kitchen area near reception to get tea, coffee and hot chocolate for a small fee.
Will definitely stay here next time I come to Melbourne!

Having eventually located this hotel under F1 my review follows.
Great location, great price, great bed - what more can you ask for? Kitchen facilities better than most F1/IB with tons of fridge space, ample supply of tea bags, milk, sugar, cutlery. With a Food Works just outside, Pie Face a block away, it makes for a truly economy stay. Furthermore, just 15mins walk from Southern Cross station where you can find the excellent airport Red Bus service, although they will drop you off/pick you up.
Staff were very helpful/friendly.

Ibis budget is centrally located, short walk to many unique back alley restaurants and Federation Square, short tram ride to Melbourne Aquarium and Queen Victoria markets. Rooms small but comfortable, no tea/coffee making facilities in rooms or plates etc, but supermarket, Subway & coffee shops nearby. Airport SkyBus motel transfer available for drop off, but must arrange for pick up in advance. Taxi rank outside.

Clean room, quiet spacious for couple coz our room located in the corner. However some of the towels as rough as sand paper...even some the towels are still in good condition.
The hotel is located in the middle of city, 7-10 mins walk to flinder station. Easy access to go ard the city. Around 20 mins walk to victoria market
