The service is still excellent, but the meals can take a long time to arrive and the selection or choice is average.. Whilst The Graham has seen better days the service and wine selection still stand out...

As always the food at the Graham was clever and fresh. The table service was excellent and the plating was tasteful.
The owner (or one of the twin owners) was the problem.
A couple arrived without a booking and with a two year old in a pusher. The owner sat them next to our table and directed the wife to place the pusher immediatey behind me. The two year old was yowling, as two year olds do. The couple were quick to move the child to the other side of the table. They suggested to the owner that they may be better off outside. He said, no it was too cool outside and hey would be better off where they were seated. The child continued to yowl and the couple left. They had more sense than the owner.
This is a restaurant that charges in excess of $20 for an entree and about $40 for a main course. Ambience is important.
My wife and I were eating early. There were only 4 people in the restaurant when the family with child arrived.
We were left with the questions, did the management regard our custom as valueless or is the owner a fool?

Really love this place. The ambience and food quality are always top notch. I've eaten here on around five occasions and finally got around to writing the positive review I always should have.

Service:
Always friendly. The brothers that run the Graham used to work at Bortolotto's which was a Melbourne insitution and anyone that has been here will instantly understand that the tutelage is off the charts.

Food:
On my most recent visit I opted to have risotto and it was very nice. I find most risottos are either overcooked or undercooked and its very hard to get the right balance. These guys are one of a few restaurants which get it right. The menu is always diverse and offers a variety of dishes to cater to everyone. They do always have fine angus for the beef lovers, two or three seafood dishes, something with an 'Asian twist' and a vegetarian dish which is always full of flavour. The wine selection is probably one of the best you'll find in Melbourne. They also have a very fine selection of beers and I was very happy with the Trumer Pilsener on tap. Had never tried this before and had it on the waiter's recommendation.

Price:
Prices are roughly 28-40 for mains with the average dish coming in around 30 which I think is good value for the quality of the food, ingredients and ambience of the restaurant.

However sometimes it gets too busy.

We have been to The Graham several times since moving to Port Melbourne and truly believe it is one of the best kept secrets in the city. Disguised as a neighborhood wine bar, it far from it with inviting warm ambience, and offering a fine dining experience, it has far exceeded our expectations on every occasion. Consistent highly professional service, and perfectly presented and prepared cuisine. The menu is fairly typical but offers some gems like the Duck Curry, which is outstanding. I think one of most well considered wine menus in Melbourne, which the staff are very well educated in making recommendations on. I've "discovered" a few new outstanding wines there. Our only disappointment is it's hard to get reservations, on short notice!
