As a man who does not really like Lager it was a bit of a haven to find Guiness and Kilkenny.

You get what you would expect, food, beer and sport and occasionaly that is great.

typical irish bar, okay if in the right mood. Bit over priced, but ambience is worth it once in a while.

Varied menu, food decent, reasonably priced, standard Irish pub. Staff a little haphazard with accuracy of orders, but got there in the end. Nice for a casual dinner

The Irish styled pub / restaurant is the lower for of the South Bank Mall, adjacent to the footbridge which links the railway station to the South bank. The atmosphere is great with live music most nights. The barman is Irish, at least when we were there. The food is usual pub food but of the best quality. while visiting Australia we went into three P.J. O' Brien's and we enjoyed everyone.

We ate here on a Monday night after arriving in Melbourne in the evening. It was fairly quite and finding a table in one of the little "snug bars" was easy. The had an Irish band playing which provided a bit of atmosphere. The staff were cheery and attentive.

The food was typical pub fare and was average to good quality. We had a steak sandwich, feta and blue cheese pie, wedges and a bottle of sparkling wine for a total cost of $74.

The ambiance of the place was excellent and made for an enjoyable night.

All up, I think you would come here more for the setting and atmosphere than for the food.
