Description: When we opened the doors to MoVida in Hosier lane, Melbourne in 2003 no one knew what to expect. Here was this little bar on a graffiti covered cobbled lane near the cathedral serving Spanish tapas and shared plates in a down lit room playing funky tunes. It's the kind of place you can come in for a beer and a jamon croquetta at the bar and then move across to a table and share a plate of slow braised lamb, some patatas a lo pobre and down some seriously good Spanish red wine.

This place is always in demand. So book in advance.
We had to wait for 20 minutes to get a place on a Saturday afternoon.
The tapas are mouth-watering. The portion sizes are perfect and one can try a lot of stuff from the menu. The location is also an added advantage. You can take a stroll to see the graffiti in the lane.

They have two sittings for dinner so we dined early. Beautiful as usual, especially the quail. This place is always packed so book well ahead to avoid disappointment. Allow time to admire the street art in Hosier Lane outside.

I won't take long to agree with most the other reviewers of this local gem - it's good. Make a reservation, since it seems that this place is full every night, and do order everything on the left side (or the right side) of the menu, since you're going to like it all.

I especially liked the soft but crunchy paella - nice!

We've never managed to book far enough ahead to get a table, but eating at the bar is great...same menu, great service and you get to chat to the barmen!
We usually order all the tapas...they're always interesting, tasty and beautifully prepared & presented. Wines by the glass are fabulous.

We've been here twice now, both times seated at the bar as we didn't make a booking. This just feels better - ie: eating tapas at the bar. The service is always good and the selection is excellent. As its tucked in down a lane way this just adds to the atmosphere. It's better than most tapas we've been to in Spain. A must-do in Melbourne for lunch.
