With so many restaurants popping up in Melbourne, it's easy to forget about the 'old familiar' ones such as Florentino's. While upstairs is the special occasion restaurant (which many babyboomers remember fondly from the decadent 1980s!), the Grill has the same sense of style and ambience but at a lower price range, but is not quite as intimidating. It has pre-theatre dinner menus which change daily and range from $35 for two courses including a glass of wine(very palatable red or white!) or $45 for three courses with a glass of wine.
The outstanding waiters at the Grill ensure you order and receive your meal in a timely manner to enable an appropriate departure to the nearby Princess (where we saw the fabulous 'Jersey Boys') Her Majesty's and Comedy theatres. Yet, we did not feel rushed at all. It opens for dinner at 5.45 and that is an ideal time to arrive for a 7.30pm theatre start time.
The presentation, the food, the table service was superb. It reminded us that we must return for a meal when we can stay a little longer.
