Da Noi do not have a menu, this is traditional regional italian at its best where the waiter actually tells you what's on the menu or says "leave it to me". I'be been here once and whilst the food was excellent found it to be too expensive to warrant a second visit. We tried the spaghetti con bottarga and found them "squisiti". Enjoy, you need to visit Da Noi at least once.

Hidden away on South Yarra's restaurant strip is Da Noi. I think this means 'by us' but who cares. It's Sardinian food..which I am sure is famous in Sardinia but it tastes like excellent Italian. It's really hard to find which is a really good thing because if too many people find out it could be spoilt. Imagine a restaurant where there is no menu, the waitress just shows you a list, the food changes daily, the wine is great , but you can bring your own on Monday nights and the food is some of the best relaxed comfort food in existence. Best of all the waitress we had, who was from Toronto, south of Porto Cervo, actually knew what she was doing. Da Noi is not cheap but that's another good thing. Go now.

Thank you for not giving me a menu. Grazie for just cooking and providing dishes based on what you have sourced that day from your farm at Yarck or other places. Starters of delicious salmon carpaccio, poached fish with bottarga (fish roe), fried mussel (wow!). Next was baby radishes, a pork & fennel sausage like a chorizo (wow again), an almost liquid liver pate and crisp bread, octopus in tomato (sublime), chick pea & eggplant, a delicious barley salad, green beans & green olives & caper salad. Mains of braised agnello (lamb with a tomato base), an amazing little "molecular cooking" with a ball of pecorino cheese and egg sitting atop the lamb, a carrot and cardamom purée alongside and the cutest baby turnips I have ever seen. At this point they ask you - more? Ok we said, bring it on. So the beautiful suckling pig arrives with a refreshing simple salad of garden greens and tomatoes that taste like they use to. Dessert was a lip-puckering lemon sorbet with meringue crumble before a plate of - wait for it - raspberry sorbet, crème caramel with a stunning crumble and stone fruit topping and a divine Opera cake which tended toward a tiramisu. All washed down with a starter glass of Prosecco and accompanied throughout with a Sicilian red. Excellent wine list. If you don't want to be served "at the whim of the kitchen" I believe there is an a la carte menu but I've never used it. Food costs are $89 (we easily ate about 7 courses). Staff are wonderful, timely, appropriate, knowledgeable and correctly proud of this stunning place. Been here about 4 times now - but too long since the last visit. Have vowed to make this a seasonal visit. Grazie Da Noi - superbo, eccellente!

Authentic food, menu is limited yet balanced , great food, nice floor staff - feels authenticly Italian. A great chef behind the business although he's often in the country these days.

Da noi is truly a find!!!! Eventhough it could be mistaken for a Vietnamese restaurant it is actually Italian! The Sardinian chef sources fresh ingredients each day and bases his menu on what is available at the markets, hence there is no set menu, it changes daily. Homemade pasta is superb and the night we went it was served with crab, fennel and scampi in a beautiful seafood broth, wow! What a flavour!! Veal done two ways was superb, salad served with it lightly dressed with a beautiful dressing. Passionfruit sorbet was a lovely finish to a great meal at a restaurant tucked along toorak road between 2 shops that u could easily miss but don't!!!! A real find .
