We went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were absolutely thrilled with the whole experience.
It was a miserable Melbourne winter night, so the atmosphere downstairs in the small and cosy restaurant with an open fire place was perfect. As we love all kind of good food we went for the easy choice of a 4-course degustation menue and left it to the chef to please us. Glad we did, as every course was a special treat. The fact that in reality every course consisted of two components added to the variety and the great experience, and of course made us eat much more than we should have. We had a nice bottle of Italian red wine from Apulia, which was a perfect match with the great food. Of course this is not a place for a quick cheap meal, but if you are after a night filling mediterranean dinner event it is exceptional quality and good value for money. We will definitely be back!

Da Noi continues to delight with its famous degustation menu. The fact that guests have no idea what they might be offered when they arrive in no way puts them off: quite the opposite in fact. You are, of course, asked if there is anything you cannot, or would rather not eat, but after that, it's a magical mystery tour, and a very pleasing one too. Our dinner included an oyster, fresh tongue and grilled and braised goat. We began to wonder if we could cope with course after course as it arrived, but we managed it. The wine list is Italian oriented, as is to be expected. I could wish for better quality glasses, but that may be a fixation of mine! Service was cheerful and, by and large, without attitude. Not a cheap place, with the dégustation menu priced at A$93 per head, but for a celebration, if you like good honest artisan cooking, this is to be highly recommended

A small narrow restaurant on busy Toorak Road in Melbourne's South Yarra area. And it is Sardinian. The lunch menus are well explained by the pleasant informative and enthusiastic staff. We could choose the quick lunch of, I think, two courses, one being a gnocchi with a choice of vegetarian or meat ragu sauce; the a la carte, which we did not bother to look at; or chef's choice of several courses that we could stop as and when we chose. We went with that and the odd glass or two of excellent Sardinian wine, though there are other wine origins on the list.
Antipasti were several small dishes to share - oysters, a white fish in bite sized pieces, a stunning pepperonata, cauliflower, meat balls and more. Pasta was fine perfectly cooked linguini with a butter and vongole (clam) sauce. We chose to go on with a main course and it was tender rolled pork. At this point we decided against dessert and moved to coffees.
All the cooking was faultless. The service continued as it started. The only downside was the noise from a table of ladies preparing themselves for the rigours of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival that was just beginning. Their enthusiastic chatter was amplified by the small room. But we really enjoyed it all.

Melbourne visits always include a Da Noi night with good friends and in winter we happily sit near the warm open fire. If you fancy roast suckling pig cooked expertly over fire in the traditional way, if you hanker for the perfect combination of leafy greens and handmade cheeses, if you want dishes that present seafood and other daily delights that are so fresh and delicious you would swear there was a sea and a vegetable garden at the back of the premises, do not miss Da Noi. The joy of this place is that it takes its cues from the best produce accessible on the day. Sit back and let the wonderfully helpful and cheerful staff construct your memorable Sardinian escape. And yes, the seating is tight, but who cares when those plates are so excellent?

I've try Da Noi many times and it never fails to please. Great food an exciting menu, served in a delightful atmosphere. Da Noi is perfect romantic meal out. It's also ideal for adventurous exploration of Italian food. It's not your usual trattoria serve, it is instead great place to try usual dishes from regional Sardinia.
