“Always very good”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

You can always be assured of a very good meal here, watch for the daily specials, particularly the pasta's. An extensive wine list focussing on Italian varieties is sure to please. And the waitors are very attentive, hilarious in their mannerisms, but certainly go the extra mile. The calamari should be ordered immediately on arrival to enjoy whilst perusing the menu.

“Iconic Italian in South Yarra”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

Visited Caffe e Cucina yet again. It never fails to please. From the minute the waiter signed off our phone call with 'baci baci', he had me hooked.
Went with three generations of the family and everyone was happy. It was old world enough for the grandparents to feel spoilt with a traditional restaurant experience, atmospheric enough to keep the adolescents happy, and us? Great food, great wine, great service keeps us very happy.
Many of the pastas are available gluten free, though I was disappointed when the waiter said Fregola is gluten free. I was able to pull him, but a newbie celiac sufferer may have paid the consequences the next day.
Nonetheless, we love this place, and will be back, as always.

I love Italian food and I was really delighted with our meal yesterday at Caffe e Cucina. All the staff is Italian, the dishes were great and innovative, a very good mood in the air, it really felt like in Italy!

“A real Italian dining experience”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

Arrived outside here, after a long trek from our hotel and up and down Chapel St trying to find somewhere decent to eat, in serious need of food and drink. This is a real Italian, family, restaurant that does it all, properly, in Italian. The place was packed but we were welcomed, escorted to the bar, offered drinks and asked to wait "five minutes" which is usually restaurant-speak for twenty-five. Had hardly got the first two mouthfuls of a very acceptable, cold , dry white down, when we were asked to go to the first floor to our table. The menu is just what you would expect from a first-class establishment in Milan, Genoa or Rome with wines to match. Eat here, you will like it!
