“Brilliant food, frantic staff.”
Reviewed May 3, 2013 via mobile

Dined at Becco last night. Food was amazing. Had the beef carpaccio and the veal saltinboca. Both executed perfectly in quite plentiful servings to the point where dessert had to be scaled down to a affrogatto.

Took a while for out order to be taken and the staff seemed a little flustered when we arrived, but things settled down throughout the night, and we were even offered a better table by a window when it became available between our entree and main.

All in all a very pleasant night.

“fantastico”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

We had the pleasure of having a work dinner here last week and were suitably impressed.Becco is situated down one of those great little laneways so you could miss it unless you were looking for it.The must have is the beef Carpaccio and the Linguine, Crab, Rocket, Chilli. The wine list is very affordable and the service is prompt and friendly so we would recommend.

“Really enjoyable”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

It's been sometime since I have been to Becco. It's remains a great place to share a few stories over great food and wine.
Each time I have been to Becco, Simon and his staff have been terrific, friendly and welcoming.
I'm a creature of habit it seems as each time I'm at Becco I order the crumbed veal. Each time it's terrific, but on Friday it seemed even better.
Becco is off Bourke Street in a lane behind Pellegrini's. Big floor to ceiling windows open up the place to the lane and from your table you can watch the comings and goings of customers and the proprietors of the little shops across the lane.
Make sure you get to Becco's 15 or 20 minutes before your reservation so as you can have a drink at the bar before hand.

“Overpriced, sub-standard food. Good Service.”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

My family visited this restaurant expecting something special. The decor and entrance was nice and the staff very friendly. The food however, left alot to be desired. I ordered the roast duck and it was out within 10 minutes. no crusty skin and tasted like it had been sitting in the oven for a couple of hours. My son had the whiting which comprise two six inch battered fillets along with french fries for $42 (what a rip off). My wife's Gnocchi was just okay and very bland.
Very disappointed and felt that we were ripped off with poor food that was over-priced for what we got.

“Excellent chef, nice relaxed setting”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

We had a very good Italian meal in this restaurant. We started with Prosciutto and mozzarella, some oysters and courgette flowers - all of which were excellent. The mains of goats cheese ravioli and grilled fish with Italian coleslaw were also wonderful. Great wines too and good service. In a city where quite a number of restaurants can be quite pretentious and waiting staff can have quite an attitude, this was a refreshing find.
