I think that the price you are asked to pay for this hotel will largely determine if it is worthwhile or not. At the listed full price at over 200$ a night for a queen room I,d go elsewhere. If you can get a good deal, at 129 - 159$ or less then then it is a different proposition.

The location is very good, 5 min walk to the Bourke st mall, or to the Hardware Lane restaurants and the Collins st tram. The room we had was ok. It was an average 3 star standard. It was not recently renovated as advertised. The shower is over the bathroom and just does the job due to very low pressure. The bed was satisfactory but the TV was something from 1990! Some reviewers say that if you are wanting an early nights sleep skip Friday and Saturday because of the night club. We stayed during the week for 4 nights and had no noise issues.

We also found the staff to be pleasant no hassles there at all.the attached bar is very good during the week with a good range of drinks at fair happy hour prices. Pizzas also were very good.

So if you can get it for the right price I woul easy it it could be recommended otherwise I think there are better places in Melbourne to consider.

I stayed at the Citiclub hotel over the F1/ St Patricks Day weekend this year. The staff were very friendly and helpful about surrounding area and local attractions.

The rooms were clean and comfortable and when booked in advance, value for money.

I have been staying at this Hotel for over ten years with work and had a recent bad experience with regard to cleaning staff entering my room after it has been cleaned without knocking. I stayed at the hotel for two days and had 10 or so staff enter my room unannounced. The only way I stopped this happening was to place the "Do Not Disturb" card on the door and lock the internal door lock.
I also had issues with no hot water for a shower
I will not be staying here again its appalling and they don’t seem to care either.
I advised the manager on the desk and he advised me to contact the owner. I would have thought the owner would call me but no.

Hotel is in a great location, but that does nothing to make up for the rudeness of staff. Check in was a nightmare. Reception desk was more interested in charging my card and holding my deposit for 5 days, than anything else. I could not even get a tea bag to make a cup of black tea... Rooms are quite dated and the shower is useless!! The breakfast buffet could hardly be considered a buffet!! Very disappointing!!

Room Tip: Choose another Hotel

First, let me say that most of the staff are are very friendly and obliging. There was one who was having trouble being bothered by guests.

However, my complaint is about the variability of the room quality. On my first night there I couldn't get the air-conditioning to go below 25 C (too hot for comfortable sleeping, for me at least). The next day they moved me to another room in which the air-conditioning was considerably cooler - bordering on too cool - despite saying 24 C. Trying to reset the temperature was an impenetrable mystery beyond the expertise of me or any of the staff (and there were no instructions).

If you were to collapse in the shower you might drown, but you certainly won't be scolded by the pathetically tepid water. Oh, the taps are interesting too. Some have been replaced by ceramic mechanisms that only work a quarter turn, but they've used old-fashioned taps and it's very confusing when the taps turn the "wrong" way.

One suspects that the furniture says a great deal of action over the weekends, judging by the food stains and other more worrying stains.

Room Tip: If you're at all troubled by sleeping in non-adjustable air-conditioning, and grime (!!), stay s...

Stayed here for 4 nights in February 2013. Unfortunately these nights included a weekend, where the club downstairs was going off until 5:30AM. Even though we stayed on the top floor of the hotel, the music and shrieking from downstairs made it impossible to sleep, and caused the walls to shake all night long. It's close enough to tourist attractions, but really not worth the noise. In addition, the decor is very tired and the room and bathroom seemed clean enough but were by no means pristine. As a final note, the fitness center here is a joke -- a few weight machines and a bike and something that looks like a wooden wagon wheel or old-fashioned tractor. Unless you're planning to party all night, do NOT stay here.

Worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Our room was booked by a friend who lives in NZ and didn't know the city. Extremely noisy night club 2 floors below which didn't finish till 5:30am Sunday morning. Drunken youths running up hallways, screaming and slamming doors all night. Rooms shabby and dated. This is not the 70's. dated bathrooms, hair dryer not working, hot water barely hot. If you are coming to Melbourne, stay somewhere else. Avoid like the plague.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else, not here.
