“A grand old home with magnificent gardens and a restaurant in them”
Reviewed February 21, 2014

This is a delightfully grand old home reasonably well preserved. It is best to do a tour with one of the guides as it is insightful. The gardens are beautiful and you can meander about for a while then go to the little café for something to eat. The food is surprisingly good

“How can the National Trust treat this historic building in such a way?”
Reviewed December 3, 2013

I visited Como about twenty years ago and found it a wonderful reflection of life in earlier times. The presentation and standard of guiding was excellent and I left with fond memories of my visit. Now, in 2013, I made the mistake of a repeat visit. The condition of the building - externally and internally - was a disgrace. It is an indictment against the current state of The National Trust of Australia (Victoria) that this building will now require an enormous effort to stop and reverse the deterioration. What a tragedy. The State Government needs to take control of this important Melbourne landmark. If this is the was the National Trust in Victoria operates, perhaps it is time to divest itself of property.

“A classic old Melbourne house”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Visited this site during Melbourne Open House 2013.
Given the now limited opening hours this was a great chance to see the house with lots of guides.
Its a grand old house and fairly well preserved for its age (and given the cost of maintaining it!).

Absolutely loved the kitchens which are very well preserved (best part of the house!).
The new cafeteria "The Stables" is great and has only just opened. I had superb scones and cream.
