Como was a pleasant way to wiling away a few hours. It was a step into Melbourne's past and, as such, an excellent look at what a fine home was like a century ago

“1st went as a child, now still love it in mid life”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

Como House and gardens has impressed for years. If you need a break from the hustle and bustle, of you wish to soak up the history and beautiful gardens of yesteryear, its a place worth visiting. Can be a bugger to get to on public transport though.

“Some real Melbourne history”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

A beautiful historic mansion showing what life was like in old Melbourne. European settlement in Melbourne (and all of Australia for that matter) is relatively recent (220 years) so Como is not an old building by European standards but it's an important building in Melbourne. It's worth doing a guided tour too, to get an insight into the people that used to live at Como.

An interesting piece of Australian social and architectural history with a pleasant garden. Easily accesible by tram from the CBD.
