“A suburban haven”
4 of 5 bubbles Review of Wattle Park

Owner description: Wattle Park is a popular metropolitan park that has a blend of historic buildings, picnic grounds, recreational facilities and natural bush spread over 55 hectares. Huge gum trees, wattles, seasonal wildflowers and ponds are all significant features. Wattle Park is an excellent location for a variety of activities from jogging to bird watching, golf to cricket. Meet for a picnic or barbecue and in the warmer months you may see the Melbourne Tramways Band playing on a Sunday afternoon. The beautiful historic Wattle Park Chalet, a quaint European-style establishment built in 1928. The Chalet, popular for functions, is set among exotic trees and sweeping lawns. For a great escape within the suburbs, this is the place to visit. Despite the urban surroundings of Wattle Park, there's also a surprising diversity of flora and fauna within its boundaries. Children can even enjoy being a tram conductor in one of the old trams. The nine hole public golf course is a lovely setting to practice your swing. There are also three tennis courts. Visit the filtration ponds alongside Damper Creek and see ducks and frogs amongst the native rushes. Immerse yourself in the history and nature of the park. Wattle Park is on Riversdale Rd Burwood. Vehicle access is from Riversdale Rd. Enter by foot from Riversdale Rd, Warrigal Rd, Patterson Ave or Elgar Rd. Tram 70 stops near the park entrance. The toilets and most paths in the park are accessible for visitors with limited mobility.

“A suburban haven”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2013

This is said to be one of the oldest public gardens in Melbourne and is a great place for a pleasant stroll through the bush, particularly when the thousands of wattles are in bloom. Quite hilly though, so you will get a pretty good workout!

“Well Established Park”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2013

Wattle Park is a well well established park, one I use to go to as a teenager and then later on for golf. It is a park for all the family, it has a couple of old trams for the kids to play around in, while dad cooks on the BBQ and mum sets out the rug.
It's a great piece of parkland surrounded by old suburbia.

Brilliant, just sightseeing & checking out the local & suburban sights & tourist attractions, when I have a spare day free.

“An oldie but a goodie”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2013

This is so close to Melbourne, a tram ride away. And in the park a tram to eat in, play in, concerts are held on a regular basis with the Tramways Band and it just has a really good feel to it. Pack a picnic, cook a bbq or just go and walk and let the kids play.

“My best mate had her wedding here.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

It is just a tram ride from Melbourne central. Have had good experiences watching the children play in the old tram. I live 200kms from the CBD and this is a good place to take a break and sandwich
