what a great piece of architecture. Love the old movies that they show at this place. Not enough new movies, but hope this changes with the new owners

“Just OK... Just a pass.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

This is an old theatre that now acts as a Cinema for old films. You can pick up the guide for the films and catch the latest or even one from 50 years ago. Keep an eye out for the program.

“Classic art deco”

I love the old art deco styling of the Astor. And the occassions when they show classic old movies. Great treat.

“An Iconic Landmark”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2012

there is nothing finer than seeing an old movie in an even older movie theatre, or even seeing a new movie without the surrounds of annoying 3d glasses and seats you can hardly see over the top of. none of that is here, the foyer is amazing and really is part of the experience, come a bit earlier and have a look around. then line up to enter the theatre and grab a seat in the 1930´s cinema you wont be disappointed and if you leave the movie disappointed be sure to pat the resident cat everything you hated will soon dissipate.

“I love old theatres which show great old movies”

The Astor is just a bit of history transported into the present. I haven't been there for five years because I've moved further away but it is just delightful to see one of the grand old theatres still functioning.
