“A time to spoil ourselves.”
Reviewed September 16, 2009

Over the last year our life revolved around our children, so this was a short trip where my wife and I got to spoil each other. From the minute we walked into the hotel lobby the attention to detail was sensational. The service was fantastic and nothing was to much trouble for any of the staff. As we were from interstate, the staff orgainsed and recommended restaurants for us to dine at. All were excellent choices. My wife wanted to shop in locations we didnt know how to get to, so one staff member David even offered for us to call him personally if we got lost and couldnt find out way back to the hotel.

These are the little things that make a good hotel great. We cant wait to return to the Langham Melbourne.

The Langham Hotel was amazing!!! It was in a great location and the facilities were excellent. Every single staff member that we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone that is looking for somewhere special to stay.

Wonderful hotel with a lovely classic feel to it and service to match. I would recommend this hotel to just about everyone except for young couples and singles. I am no teenager by any means but i did feel the place was a tad too old for my tastes but that's a positive. For those looking for a great hotel without lots of drunk youngsters all around, this is the place for you :)

I took Ben Singleton's advice and asked for a room with one of the new TVs. Very nice TV it is too and was easy to plug in any external devices you may have (i always travel with a media player full of movies and tv etc) into one of the side AV slots

Hotel staff are very friendly with the older gentleman who looks after the door at the very front of the hotel being my favourite. Lovely fella and a great ambassador for the hotel.

Bed is mega comfy and the room has everything you need. Bathroom is nice but if i was being really pedantic, the toilet needs a bit more of a powerful flush and the shower could do with a tad more oomph as well. No biggies in either case, but improvements which could be made.

Room service food was great, very nice, reasonably priced and professionally presented.

Location of the hotel is awesome. It's a walk to the Crown Casino and also a walk over the bridge to the city. There is a 7 eleven just opposite which is convenient and also a shopping centre right next door with a foodhall. So cheap eating options are right nearby.

Having said that the Langham has a restaurant with one of the best buffets in Australia, the Melba, it is a must must must do. It's not really that expensive anyway as far as quality dining goes.

But my tip for this review is if you want to go clothes shopping, you MUST visit Bridge Road in Richmond. Get a cab there. It has the best shopping, better than Chapel street. Designer brands are reasonable prices. I bought my girlfriend some lovely dresses and got a heap of stuff for myself as well.

The Langham is just the best in every way, with special mention of the food in the Melba Brasserie and the staff, especially Misuk the wondergirl. Rooms are just lovely. Flexibility to help with problems of late arrivals, etc.

Our 42nd wedding anniversary, husband booked top floor room Club suite. Upon arrival, we asked to change to room with view of city and Yarra. The young ladies who manage the Club lounge were so accommodating and we were so happy with our room with spa and double showers, king bed was a little hard for my old bones, but the manager visited us and arranged to make it softer, such a lovely man, Jonathon McLaughlin.
Unfortunately my best friend died the day before we left for our stay and the funeral was in Geelong, so again those lovely young ladies booked our room longer, they were so attentive to all our needs and were like our children so kind. We needed things from our car and they were brought to our room. We could use our computer wireless and continue business, we noticed more business people and visitors in the Club lounge who were so happy with service. A young couple with a baby toddler which kept us amused, so Club area is used by all, dont be put off and I notice they have specials for this area, save up and enjoy.
An anniversay cake was left in our room much to our delight
We found the food and service for breakfast and cocktails were comparable to world wide luxury hotels, better than most in caring and service. We dined and tried the buffet breakfast at Melba, our dinner was wonderful, if only we were younger, we could have eaten more!
The Southbank centre next door has enough to keep you busy and we did go for a cruise up the Yarra, just a step over to the river bank from hotel, as we are proudly Victorian, we know Melbourne and love all aspects.
We went to the Chuang Spa and had deep massage together with young man and lady for me, with good strong fingers, huge fitness centre and pools too.
We were so touched by the kindness and care we received which made a sad time a warm, comforting, memorable experience. Thank you again David Paul for your kindness and service to us.

Langham in Melbourne Vic made my girlfriends birthday in the city so fabulous she though I was going to propose. From taking the muddy half broken old car away for valet parking to assisting and extending every service we could ask for. We received service and freebies we did not even ask for as well as when we had the choice to take it large in the city all night the hotel bar sufficed to every thing we needed. The next day was just rolling on from the night before with personal greetings from staff that remember your name to luxuries at your leisure reserved for VIP. I would recommend Langham, Melbourne as value for money and service with a smile.

We arrived to be met by a charming doorman, found everyone from the porter to the receptionist to be exceptionally friendly and professional, and oriented ourselves with the help of two concierge staff who seemed to genuinely enjoy their work as they helped us out with gentle good humour once they had ascertained our interests. The hotel was close to several major galleries, right on the main river and near a number of restaurants that proved to be very good. We also enjoyed the nearby laneways and cafes and breakfast in the hotel club lounge where the staff were especially friendly and seemed to know a number of their guests quite well - which might be a sign that they were regulars or just that the staff had good memories! Our first visit to Melbourne for several years, but we enjoyed our stay more than we have at some of the more glass & chrome types establishments - the hotel seems to have a real warmth - but then we were there in Winter, which may have helped. We may make it back for the Australian Open in Summer, and will definitely look at this hotel again.
