Our stay at the Langham could not have been better! The location on the Southbank Promenade was conveniently located to the center of town and it was great being so close to some scenic bars and restaurants on the Yarra River. The room and service were both 5 star - the staff was friendly and welcoming making sure all our needs were met. One annoying thing that the Langham has in common with a lot of Australian hotels though is that you need to pay extra for the internet with connections being slow and spotty, but Melbourne has lots of areas which provide free internet on the southbank and at federation square which helps. Overall a very comfortable stay and we would 100% recommend this hotel.

finally got around to using a voucher I received for my last birthday - with my next one rapidly approaching! My only regret is that it was for just the one night as the Langham was so nice we didn't want to leave. Check in staff were extremely efficient and sincerely friendly and our assigned room was nicer than we expected as we had a great river/city view. Bed was big and comfortable, room was a good temperature and very quiet. Pool and spa were good (including plenty of extra towels, I hate it when hotels with pools don't provide them) although I think the outdoor deck could be "prettied" up a bit, it is a bit grey/stark. Enjoyed a very nice drink in the bar in the evening (as a non-drinker I can recommend the fruit cocktails, delicious although a bit expensive) and a good breakfast - plenty on offer although don't be late as everything is packed up on the dot! Some nice touches like a bottle of water "for the road" in our car after it was delived by valet service. Foyer/lobby is one of the nicest of any hotel I've stayed in, esp decorated up for Christmas. If anyone wants to give me another Langham voucher feel free!

Room Tip: I noticed there was a room right next to the lift, I wouldn't want that one although we were not too far away and didn't hear anything.

After not being able to secure a booking at Crown Towers for my partner's 30th birthday, I decided to investigate the Langham.
From the moment we pulled into the valet, our expectations were instantly exceeded!
Every interaction with staff was memorable as they were genuinely warm and welcoming.
The small touches were what stood out to us, especially in the turn down service, such as the weather forecast and the bottles of water on the night-stands.
We enjoyed the rooftop pool and sunbaking overlooking the iconic Melbourne skyline.
We found the Langham to be much better value for money, than other Melbourne hotels.
Our experience with the Langham was unforgettable and we will definitely return in future!

This was our third trip to The Langham and whilst it remains a favourite hotel of ours, this time we felt a little of the magic had evaporated. Small things like queues at reception and concierge...lack of the personal touch we had so much appreciated and which indeed appeared to be part of the very essence of the hotel in times past, missing. Paying extra for the Club Lounge has always been a treat however at nearly £1000 for four nights accommodation we felt disappointed on this occasion that there was little change in the offering and the staff appear to favour regular guests. A small point but nonetheless irritating is the fact that if you have a coffee with breakfast it comes by a relatively small cup and you need to keep asking for refills- a cafetiere or pot would be nice as most people need more than one cup.My husband was ill during our stay and they could only recommend a private doctor and did not follow up on how he was or indeed offer any support other than what was asked. Noone on reception understood that there was a reciprocal health agreement between the UK and Australia or could advise which meant we paid for a very expensive hotel doctor. On checkout we had a credit card charge added to our account despite paying with a debit card- they explained that this is standard practice as their machine recognises the visa on the card and accepts as a credit card. If we had known this we would have paid cash as this is a large surcharge on the already steep bill. Will consider our accommodation options very carefully next time as Melbourne is thriving and there are several good quality hotels in the vicinity which appear at face value well positioned and managed.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that your visit this time was not up to our usual standards. I have made a note of your comments with regards to the queues at reception and concierge. We constantly look to improve upon our service and are disappointed to read that you felt neglected by our staff when visiting our Club Lounge .

We would like to inform you that like most international hotels we offer the House Doctor services as he is always on call. However on investigation to avail oneself of the reciprocal agreement involves the guest going to the emergency department of the local hospital. There are no outcall services available on the agreement. As part of our normal procedure we do follow up to ensure our sick guests are comfortable however in this instance we did not and we do apologize for the shortfall. In regards to the settling of your account we do offer two options to settle the account either via credit card, local eftpos and also by cash, which we highlight on our registration card upon check in and is noted on our website.

We have contacted you directly so that we make a note against your guest history to ensure that we do improve on your next stay. We do hope you’ll enjoy a stay with us again if you’re visiting Australia.

12 months ago had a very unpleasant experience but as we had been a regular previously we decided to give them another chance. We booked a club terrace and have to say it was great. Can see the work done in the refurbishment as the floor we were on seemed brighter as did the room. Two minor complaints the pillows were too soft and the bathroom is a little on the small side. When we had to deal with a staff member they were extremely friendly. Another minor issue we took advantage of the quick check out and was told we would be sent the breakdown of costs that evening we are still waiting several days later. Glad we tried again and we will return.
