I stay at the Prom regularly. The Staff are always courteous and rooms are a good size and clean. They have a good pool and gym. The breakfast is is a good buffet with lots of choices. The motel is close to the docklands DFO and part of the crown complex so they are loads of dining and entertainment options.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the lifts

attended an exhibition at the nearby melbourne convention hall and it was just a short 10mins walk. right beside the crown casino and it was easy access if one needed food or a drink to wind down. the room was clean and comfortable. a nice indoor pool and gym if one needs to work out the jet lag. Walking distance to tram network and there are some mini-markets located opposite.
room has basic essentials needed for a working stay.

I recently spent 3 nights here while attending a conference, and was very happy with the venue. We were in a twin room, and it was spacious, modern, and clean. There was only one thing I was disppointed in, and that was the lack of a bath, when long luxurious baths are something that is important to me when travelling for work or pleasure. I note another reviewer commented on the shower dribbling water - not in our room, the water was hot and plenty of it. The service of the staff was faultless, and all levels of staff make the effort to give sincere smiles and hello's anytime you pass them, making you feel very welcome. Breakfast buffet was good (buffet eggs could be hotter so recommend you get the chef to cook your eggs to order), and the conference centre frood at breaks and lunch was healthy and delicious.

Room Tip: The higher you get, the better the views. We were 16th floor and could see as far as the bay.

Crown Promenade is just over the road from Crown Towers, and offers a very similar but cheaper option to its more illustrious sister hotel over the road. I stayed for three nights for a training course at the Conference Centre, and the hotel ticked all of the boxes for a work trip, and would also appear to have similar appeal for weekends away.
The room was a good size with two comfortable queen size beds - its definitely not up to the same level of finish as the Towers, but then you wouldnt expect it to be given the lower price bracket. The entertainment system was modern and up to date with a good 50 TV channels, and the room had all the other essentials you would expect. My only complaint was that there was no mixer tap in the shower, meaning you have to do the tricky manoeuvre at the start where you gauge where the taps need to be while avoiding scolding or freezing yourself in the process...
The breakfast selection was good - i had an inclusive rate so cant comment on value for money. I also ate in the restaurant at lunchtime and the lunches were also high quality, though it was a shame to see so much food thrown away at the end - it is apparently Crown policy not to pass leftovers on to charities (for legal reasons).
Location wise, its very convenient, just a quick walk through to casino to the south bank restaurants and they also run a free shuttle into the CBD.
I paid around $250, which felt about right for what you got - am not sure what the rack or weekend rates are, but if you went too far north of that, I think you would be better off upgrading to the Towers or other equivalent top end options

Thanks for the review.

We were pleased to read you enjoyed your stay with us and we met your expectations. The points you raised in regards to the food being thrown out after a buffet lunch is unfortunate, however as you noted it’s against health and safety regulations to re-use the food.

Many of our guests enjoy all the entertainment available at Crown and should they wish to venture into the city it’s only a short walk or they can relax and go on our hotel shuttle that stops throughout the city including the Victoria Market.

Thanks again for the review and we look forward to welcoming you back to Crown Promenade in the near future.

Kind regards,

Greg Moore

I recently stayed at the Crown Promenade expecting it to be an upmarket hotel as it was flying the Crown banner.

The rooms look like the inside of an Ikea Showroom, they are cheap and tacky. The design is flawed, no Tub only a shower with a cheap spout that dribbles water. No chance of sleeping in either as the drapes are such that the light pours in from 6 in the morning. The elevators are so slow that most guests seem puzzled by the lenght of time it takes to travel a few floors.

The worst part of the stay was the 1.65% Credit Card Processing fee that they spring on you when you check out.

When asked how else a guest can pay if not utilising a credit card you are told that you could pay cash.

I have travelled the world stayed in good and bad hotels but honestly have never been bushwhacked to pay a service fee on utilising a credit card and to be sure, don’t know of any worthwhile business travellers that are carrying around large wads of cash to pay for their hotel bills. This is just a ploy by the hotel to make additional revenues and work on the premise that most people think this is the norm.

The whole experience is one of providing ordinary accommodation for a massive price ($495 per night) and then trying whatever tricks to grab more money from the guests

Do yourself a favour and stay away from this cheap motel its an embarrassment to the Amazing City of Melbourne and will just upset what could be an enjoyable trip.

Thank you for your feedback and the detailed review of your stay with us.

As we discussed with you the credit card surcharge is noted on the signage on the Front Desk and listed as part of the terms and conditions on the registration card. This surcharge is in line with similar hotels in Melbourne (and more commonly in restaurants) and can be avoided by paying by EFTPOS or by cash. Whilst we don’t have a bathtub in our rooms (apart from our Suites which have an oval Jacuzzi) we generally receive positive feedback about of our oversized showers, however we appreciate this may not be to everyone’s liking. We will certainly be reviewing the other points you raised as this is not consistent with the high standards we strive to achieve.

We apologise for not meeting your expectations and once again thank you for the feedback.

Kind regards,

Greg Moore

while attending the HR World conference in Melbourne last week, I stay 5 nights at this excellent hotel.. Front desk staff very courteous and friendly.. This was a convenient stay to attend this conference.. a five minute walk from the location of the conference.. Rooms were very clean and confortable, with sundries that were of quality. my luggage did not come and time and the bellboys were always attentive to let me know what the status was.. I would recommend to stay in this hotel to whoever is travelling to Melbourne.

Thanks for taking the time to write such a wonderful review.

Your comments will be passed onto our staff who take tremendous pride in their service delivery and being attentive to our guests' needs. Many of our guests comment on the hotel’s close proximity to the MCEC which is only a short walk from the complex.

Take care and we look forward to welcoming you back to Crown Promenade in the near future.

We stayed for 5 nights in a Corner King Suite. Fantastic views over the Yarra and to CBD. 180 degree view with floor to ceiling windows. Spotless room with good facilties, great shower room and modern bathroom. Pool area was good - very open and spacious. Breakfast in the restaurant was great, just what you expect from a hotel of this type. Staff very attentive and welcoming. Would defintely stay here again.
