“Great for lunch or stocking up on fresh provisions”

A one stop, shop round the markets for travellers with self cater facilities who like good quality produce and small goods. In addition to the fruit/veg, meat, pasta and fish, the market delis stock a fab range and a number of 'stalls' offer prepared meals. Some delis offer a 4 for $10 deal choosing a mix of cheeses and dips etc handy for holiday style grazing in a self catered apartment. There's a Safeway supermarket and a huge Dan Murphy Liquor across the road to round out the provisions shopping.

“Reminiscent of Barcelonas fresh food market”
Reviewed September 2, 2012 via mobile

A standout fresh market rain a City that cherishes its produce. A must try delight is Jimmy Dimmys Dumpling Co. Fab dim sum including lamb and rosemary. A Tom yum soup that is perfectly balanced and a very generous proprietor.

“Very blend”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

Typical Aussie market but very much of a smaller scale compare to the famed Victoria Market up north. Shopped for daily groceries here. Lots of variety and price were reasonably cheap. Very upscale caterred for residents and tourists at Southbanks and St Kildas

“Fresh and colourful”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

Prahran Market on a Saturday morning is great for a wander to see what the Melbourne folk take home to cook. The great frustration of being a tourist staying in a hotel is that it is a case of look but don't buy. Colourful displays of produce - from fruit and veg to flowers and fish, and on to meat - everything's here. Looks pricey, but great for the experience. A few likely places for a coffee when the legs get tired.
