Wish Adelaide has these trams! Jump on and loop the city with recorded narration of where you are and what's close by. Regular service (every 10 mins) so very convenient way to get around. Only problem is they're so popular they get very busy between some stops, so you've gotta be prepared to squeeze up a bit.

Who doesn't like a free tour around a city? Especially in these gorgeous old trams. Be aware that they are not fast though, and the side-trip out to the docklands will add on another 20 minutes or so.
The ride is comentated, so doing a full loop on your first day would be a great way to familiarise yourself with the city.

that is free is good, and informative as Myki is impossible to use if you are an infrequent visitor to Melbourne

The free city circle tram runs every few minutes all around Melbourne. The trick as a visitor is to wait for the specially marked circle trams which have piped and very practical commentaries explaining where you are, what you see, and how to connect to other nearby sites. All circle trams are free but not all have commentary!
