Great to be able to hop on and off around the city of Melbourne. It is free, and you can see tourist attractions around Melbourne without walking your legs off.

A free unlimited hop on hop off tram ride around the city with informed narrative from staff can't be bettered. Other Cities should learn from this.

This service will help you get your bearings. It travels around the perimeter of the Melbourne CBD and is free. The trams are a different color (brown) to the rest of the Melbourne trams, so they do stand out. Normally wait around 15 – 20 between trams. Only downside is they are the older style and if you have prams or a disability, they may be hard to get in and out of.

Last time I was on Melbourne (Oct 2011) and this time I rode this service to enable my Mum to experience a tram- but never again.
They may be free but you pay a price.
They're hot/ crowded and grubby.
Stops are limited and drivers couldn't care less about driving right past you leaving you stuck somewhere til the next team arrives.
The circuit is pretty boring too.
It's pretty obvious that people who aren't tourists ride it cos its free and with no conductor it can get pretty nasty if someone is being aggressive.
After riding teams in San Francisco these were just awful!
