I was surprised on arrival to discover a grotty and gloomy entrance way to this fairly upscale hotel. It turned out that a large number of rooms are not for ordinary visitors but crammed with extra beds for long-term students. The decor and maintenance of rooms seems to suffer accordingly. While staff were unfailingly polite and helpful, the presence of mould in the shower cubicle, a running toilet (fixed the next day) and a light out in the ceiling suggests that there is work to be done by management and housekeeping.

Dear JRM D

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. Please accept our apologies for not being able to provide a comfortable and satisfactory stay. Meanwhile, please allow me to clarify that we did have a group of international students staying with us for 7 days during their offshore stay trip, which, I believe, was what you saw during your stay.

I have personally shared your comments regarding the general condition of the hotel, especially bathroom to our maintenance and housekeeping managers respectively and urged them to seek improvements in order to prevent future recurrence.

Once again, please accept our apologies. It is our hope that we can have another opportunity to welcome you back in the future

Kind Regards

Nice clean rooms. Friendly staff, free bottled water would be a good idea. Easy to catch tram and close to Quenn Victoria Market. 15 minutes to walk to Lygon street and 15 minutes to walk to Bourke street Mall

We wanted a cheaper but comfortable option for a two night stay. We were very pleased by this venue. It was clean, reasonably sized rooms with all that we needed for a short stay. Trams within the free zone are 50 meters away so it was easy to access the CBD.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Didn’t eat here so can’t comment on that. Good value.

Room tip: Request top floor

We chose this hotel for the central location. Never having been to Melbourne, it was not as central as we had hoped. The reception are of the hotel was pretty run down, but the rooms were very nice and big including a kitchen. For our last night in Melbourne we cancelled this hotel and opted for one closer to the river. ( Mercure Treasury gardens)
