“Bit hit and miss”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2014

I stayed here on business at a time when Melbourne was heavily booked with the Grand Prix and Fashion Week, so it was not my first choice and for this reason wouldn't stay there again as I have preferred hotels in Melbourne. Having said that, it is a good hotel.

The rooms are fresh with a great sized desk (which I love!) and also the other big bonus for this hotel was the opening windows (yeah!) and lots of natural light. There was construction going on next door which will be happening for a while so that was a bit noisy early in the morning.

Room service food was ok. The big letdown was the housekeeping, but once this was brought to Tamie's attention she fixed it immediately. The staff are a bit hit and miss, but Sandra was great! Price was very good.

Good afternoon

My apologies for the Housekeeping issue you experienced during your stay. I have addressed these with the team and the staff member concerned has received further training to ensure that it does not happen again.
Should you need accommodation again in the future, please don't hesitate to contact me on my direct email and I will ensure you are looked after.

Kind regards
Tamie

We stopped twice within the space of a few weeks, and on both occasions it was a pleasant stay. It's within easy walking distance of all the main city attractions, which makes it a good base. We were missing a couple of towels and glasses when we checked-in, but a quick call to reception and they were brought up to us very promptly, so no issue on that front. My only complaint is that they charge a daily rate for the wifi (which is optional), however this is compensated by the free use of 2 huge Apple Macs next to the restaurant, which is good for checking email etc. We later found out that if you book for 3 nights midweek on the Accor website then you receive a 10% discount.

Good comfortable hotel... Great prices, but might be due to the Construction on both sides of the hotel (although to be honest my room was at the back and couldn't hear any of the noise).

Its a good functional base level hotel, clean and new. What you'd expect from a Mecure.

Only complaint is the curtains. I've stayed in 3 separate rooms now (on 3 different occasions), and it looks like they have scrimped on the size of the curtains. You can't block all the light out of the room, because the curtains just miss the covering the entire window (by a small amount). I like the room I sleep in dark... so having the sun stream in at 6am is rather annoying. If it weren't for this annoyance, I would have given it a higher rating.

Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Get one at the back away from the construction

I stayed at this hotel for four nights. The airport shuttle dropped me right at the door. The hotel was just across
the road from the historic Queen Victoria Markets and a major tram stop. It was an easy walk to Swanston Street, where the is a great range of different restaurants.

Room Tip: My room had a city view overlooking the markets. It had a microwave and stove. Event though there w...
