Hi Simon C,

Thanks for your review. You must have booked through one of the websites that has the comfort pack (wi-fi, TV, Towels and Toiletries) included in the price.

Glad you enjoyed the stay!

The hotel location is the best. On the Swanston street and right in front of the hotel is the tram stop. Swanston street is where it main shopping street is and where everything else like restaurants are. If you prefer to walk, it is only 5 minutes walk to the start of where all the shops are. If you prefer to take the tram, it is only 2 stops away. We’ve stayed in this hotel December 2013 for my sister’s graduation. At the time, the hotel has just opened. Everything is new. The lobby area is very modern and chic. We’ve arrived about 9pm at night (flight from Auckland). The checking in is not very smooth and took a long while. It has something to do with the system. We were tired and hungry, the prolonged checking in time, just making things worst. The rooms are tiny. We had 2 rooms. One double room for our parents and one twin room for my sisters and I. The 2 rooms are not even on the same floor. We have made a special request during reservation and apparently this is not taken into consideration. A small matter nevertheless. If only one person with one luggage, I would say, the room is adequate. With 2 person and minimum 2 big bags, we had to put our luggage in the middle of the available walking space. The toilet is awesome. The shower is the rain type. If there’s a need for drinking water, hot water, and iron, there is laundry room on the ground floor, next to the lobby area. They also have washing machines and dryers, the type that you have to use your coins for it to work. I find this a very good idea. I have been travelling a lot and I don’t find this facility in many places. First time I’ve encountered this facilities was when I was in Auckland the night before. Bear in mind this is a budget type of hotel. You have to pay extra for everything. That includes, towel, wi-fi and even tv.

The night before we checked out, we’ve made a reservation for taxi to the airport. The front desk was very helpful to call it for us and even suggested that we take the wagon type of taxi instead of the maxi cab (van) which cost a little more. Unfortunately, the next morning, maxi cab arrived. We’ve highlighted to a different guy at the front desk about it but since the maxi cab is already there and not to make things complicated and possibility of missing our flight, we took it anyway.

All in all, I would not say my experience at this hotel is horrible. It was alright. Misunderstandings and system complication at the front desk can be considered as an isolated case. I would recommend this hotel to anyone mainly because to the location.

Hi K_Akit,

Thanks for your review. Our rooms are a little on the small side, which we make no secret of. It's why we can offer them so cheap. As you stayed with us right after opening there were some teething problems with the system, which have all been ironed out now.

Most guests tend to put their bags under the bed, as there is enough room there, which keeps them out of the way.

We (2A + 3C) stayed at this hotel during the Australian Open recently and booked a family room. We were quite surprised at how large the family room was.
The hotel is located in the quieter part of Melbourne but is within walking distance to a number of attractions. All the trams that pass this hotel lead to Melbourne Central which makes it convenient to commute. It is very clean and you only pay for the amenities that you need. It has a cafe (which we did not try) and a coin operated laundrette on the ground floor.

The best part of the hotel is the friendly staff at the front desk who provided invaluable suggestions on sightseeing to first timers like us. We are grateful to Darren, Hannah and Rachael for making our stay a pleasant and memorable one. We will definitely stay here when we visit Melbourne next.

Tune is a great no frills hotel, what you see on their website is what you get. An amazing price for the location, you pay for extras such as towels, TV etc... so you can tailor the stay to your needs. The hotel is new so everything is clean and the decor is minimal and fresh. The rooms are compact but not ridiculously small. There is a nice cafe downstairs adjacent to the reception area. It is very well located at the top end of Swantson Street with frequent trams right outside and a short walk into the heart of Melbourne with the cafes and restaurants of Carlton not far away in the other direction. The service is friendly & efficient. Secure parking is also available for a competitive $15 per night. As a regular visitor to Melbourne I will definitely stay again,

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room at the back of the hotel as the trams outside can be noisy.

Tune is a good place to stay if you just need a bed to sleep in for the night. If you dont need somewhere to spend a lot of time it is very worth staying here as you pay for what you want. Very convenient as it is in the heart of Melbourne and many trams stop right out the front. It was very tidy and presented well. I will be staying here again when I come back to Melbourne to stay! The only thing I would say to you is that if you are staying here for a few days and need a refrigerator/kitchen/wardrobe then this place would not be suited but it was perfect for my purpose. Very happy and the reception staff were lovely. Bed was also very comfortable!!! WIll be back.

Room Tip: Just pay for the room, take your own toiletries and towels!

The hotel itself is brand new! So everything you see or touch is fresh. Very well located too, just 10-15 min walk to the main streets.
It's everything you need; any extra, you pay for. Tv, towel, toiletry, internet, you pay. No stress.
