Good location, friendly staff, nice spacious apartment, generally well kept and clean, free internet access on computer in reception area (otherwise charges for wi-fi), huge windows allowing lots of natural light and windows that opened to allow fresh air in. Only had a 2 night stay but wish I had longer!

Stayed 5 nights in a one-bedroom apartment on a high floor and came to really like it after resigning myself to the very noisy fridge which was the first thing i heard when I entered the room. It did disturb my sleep sometimes as the bedroom was not separated from the kitchen by a full wall (to allow natural light into the bedroom, there was a full height gap in the internal wall which does have a blind for use at night). The bathroom sink had a mixer tap with strong water pressure on the cold side but virtually no pressure at all on the hot side. Along the same lines, getting a reasonable water temperature on the shower required constant adjustments. The sofa was so saggy I never used it but instead dragged dining chairs to the lounge area. I liked the big windows, the full kitchen with a big bench and the general spaciousness. The one lift was surprisingly quick and efficient, housekeeping was pretty good and there was a friendliness about the place.

We booked a one bedroom apartment for 2 nights booked through Wotif which cost AU $130 a night as it was an Early Bird Special booked a month prior to the stay. It was booked as 'room only'. At this price (and even if it had been at a slightly higher rate), this is unbelievable value in the heat of Melbourne. The hotel is located in Flinders Lane directly across from Collins Place shopping arcade (off which runs the Sofitel Hotel) - so it's in the very nice and very central part of Melbourne ie the 'Paris end' of Collins St. The apartment was a full size 1 bedroom apartment with every facility one could want. It has a New York loft feel with very high ceilings and exposed concrete ceilings. It has a good size lounge room and kitchen, flat screen TV, great bedroom with full-sized wardrobe - with iron, ironing board, very comfortable Queen bed and a generously sized bathroom (which has a washer and separate dryer). The shower is above the bath and not particularly big but there's a lovely big benchtop where the basin is so plenty of room to put toiletries. All the furnishings were very nice and modern and very well maintained. About the only thing I could fault were the towels which were very small and thin bathtowels - not sure why the hotel has skimped on the bathtowels as this would be the only thing that's not up to scratch in the apartments but that's a minor complaint given everything else was so good.

The internet charge is $3 an hour or $17 a day. I'm always aggravated when hotels charge for internet but the easy way to solve this at Punthill Manhattan is walk across the lane to Collins Place (literally 15 steps from the Punthill's front door) and you enter Collins Place which has free internet within the entire shopping arcade. These apartments don't have any catering but that isn't an issue as again across the road at Collins Place are a variety of cafes and fast-food options and also further down Flinders St are many other options which a good recommendation for breakfast being Lot7.
Given this is apartment style accommodation, there is only a small room for the reception desk so don't expect any 'hotel services' but if you're happy to have a very good sized space, be in the heart of Melbourne, have close access to restaurants, cafes (with free internet across the road) - then Punthill Manhattan is very hard to beat!

Room Tip: We were in Room 103 and even on the 1st floor, there wasn't any noise issues. Given the layout o...

Really enjoyed our two night say here! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean, big and well equipped. I wish we had more time so I could make use of the cooking facilities!
I really loved the modern rooms and decor. The big windows made it really bright and airy and it was handy to have separate rooms so you could have a break in the lounge and watch tv/ read without disturbing the bedroom.
The boys on the front desk were helpful and friendly. Location is good, close to the expensive shops like Prada! But a short walk to trams, and free transport shuttle. Good cages and restaurants around close by. I think it might be the business end of town cos lots of suits, and offices... That's ok though cos it was always a nice walk to the entertainment and shopping areas.
Will definitely stay again.

Our one bedroom apartment on the fourth floor was excellent value for money. Rooms were spacious, kitchen well-equipped, bed comfortable, good storage (including plenty of coat hangers), there was good natural light in the main living area, and we could even open one of the living room windows. Although the shower space is small, the bathroom itself is large. Many excellent cafes and restaurants are close by, covering a range of prices and styles. The hotel is in walking distance of everything we needed, and we will be happy to stay there again.

I arrived very early Friday morning and even thought couldn't check in until 2pm the guys on the desk let me leave my bags and gave me a key to the gym downstairs to freshen up. After only 3 hours sleep I needed it! Luckily for me I got a call around midday to say my room was available - so very thankful as I was exhausted. The room was decent size for one person and it was serviced regularly. The hotel is in a great location if you just want to stay close to the city. A few minutes away from the CBD so it was a bit quieter. Will definitely go back!

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights about a week back. I wasn't expecting a huge amount as it was quite cheap. However, it really surpassed my expectations. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was huge and very well maintained. It has a great Manhattan loft style feel. The location is just brilliant. A well appointed kitchen as well. My only faults is the shower - is quite tiny and could be a bit bigger. And the mattresses do sag a bit but I didn't find that a problem. We were in one of the back rooms which was very quiet.

Basically - I highly recommend it. For what we paid it was excellent value.
