Description: Ombra Salumi Bar is based on the ideals of preservation and enjoyment. Inspired by the ‘Salumerie’ of Italy Ombra will focus on delivering highest quality cured meats. This preservation refers to the produce as well as the preservation of lifestyle and culture. This makes the most of nature’s abundance by using techniques that for centuries have prolonged nature’s bounty through processes like drying, smoking, salting, fermenting, pickling and candying.

Delicious Salumi (go the grande) and share plates. Pizza fantastic too. Lovely atmosphere, old Italian couples, family groups, works for all.

We love Ombra and flew down from Sydney for the weekend with friends just to go to Ombra again.Love the sharing plates. The ribs and pork belly are delicious.Pizza just perfect.Salted Caramel Profiteroles OMG !!!! must try.Had several glasses of Prosecco from the Grossi winery and thats now our favourite new drink. The staff are attentive and the decor and ambiance perfect for conversation with friends or as a couple. We have also been for lunch. The perfect place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Walked into Ombra on a Sunday as Grossi Florentino next door was closed. Turned out to be the best accident I had during my recent holidays. After having a few latte's outside along the street decided to have lunch indoors. Very nice ambiance and friendly staff. Simple decor in this two story restaurant but very comfortable. Ordered two of their pizza's and their pasta special. Everything was very very good. Very decent drinks menu and good pricing. From the crockery and pictures on the wall, I suspect the restaurant is related somewhat to Florentino's next door. I would go back again.

We ordered a tasting plate of 3 salumi meats, all of which were tasty.

The lamb ribs were so tender they just fell off the bone, and came with a sweet and spicy chilli preserve which tasted awesome.

The polenta chips were crispy, and the aioli had an amazing smokiness to it.

We also got mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto. This was the only dish we didn't love, we found it to be lacking in flavour.

Melbourne is a foodie's paradise and representative of Australia's $$ minerals/mining boom (Think Russia without the snow). It seems like everyone under 50 in this city of 4 million eats out every night of the week - and no doubt the older ones as well, just in different restos. This unfortunately leads, for tourists, to some crappy results; waiting for hours to get into Chinchin for mediocre food, a good number of "Tough luck, mate" responses from bored restaurants filled with locals.

How delightful to get into Ombra! Also full of folks, but with a manager who made it his business to get us in quickly to this unpretentious but great place. We had a variety of starters, all delicious; wonderful main dishes; desserts to die for, plus superb wine & beer. The atmosphere was lively, like most places in Melbourne, and our waitress (Sarah from Seattle) was both delightful and helpful. Not for the thrifty (tho our bill was based more on the variety of items we had, not on high prices) but the best meal we had during a three week tour of Australia.
