This is a real find. Among many over-priced and mediocre eateries currently around the Federation Square / Flinders St area, the Optic Kitchen and Bar is a most excellent place for a drink or a meal. They serve a selection of small shareable dishes, as well as normal sized main meals. The quality of food and standard of service is exceptionally good. Staff are friendly and helpful, the environment is pleasant, comfortable and clean. Music is not deafening. It's convenient for the arts centre, concert hall and art galleries, which is probably why you find quite a few performing artists popping in for lunch or dinner in between rehearsals. A great place for a top-up in between exploring the galleries in Federation Square and the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI). Also convenient for trains and trams, or a lazy stroll along the banks of the Yarra to Southbank.
