It's actually not bad. High up on the top you can look really far. Quite disappointed is I have been there a few times, there is always kind of fog which makes the photos not looking good. And trees always in the way.

“A beautiful view”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

We visited this place today, it is very nice, the weather today was dodgy but still very enjoyable, will return when the weather is more pleasant. Enjoyed a beaut light lunch in the observatory restaurant, it was very warm and the food tasty and reasonably priced. The young lady that served us was lovely. I think a must to return at night to enjoy the city lights etc.

“Scenic views across Melbourne's Eastern suburbs”
Reviewed June 21, 2014

As the closest major mountain range to the city of Melbourne, the Observatory has been a popular tourist attraction for over 100 years. Also referred to as the Mount Dandenong Lookout, it is located off the Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd between the towns of Olinda and Kalorama. The best way to access this attraction is via car and there is an admission charge of $5 per vehicle. Once inside you have access to the Sky High Restaurant, a cafe, BBQ and picnic areas, formal gardens for walking around, a maze for the children. There are several viewing platforms that offer spectacular views across Melbourne's eastern suburbs and, on a clear day, you can get a great sunset view. This is a great way to finish a day trip to the Dandenong Ranges or a nice place to Picnic.

“Great view”
Reviewed June 13, 2014

A good place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Melbourne CBD. You can get a good bird's eye view of Melbourne from here. The restaurant was closed when we visited, which was such a pity.
