Me and 3 girlfriends headed to Shed 5 on a Saturday night in December and were seated outside. The night was balmy, although they did switch on the heaters for us and we had a view of the city lights of Melbourne/Crown. The promenade is not that busy with foot traffic so we felt comfortable to laugh as laoudly as we wanted. There were bar stools and 2 other tables outside although not cramped together which was fantastic!
The food is to die for and worth the price! We had a few servings of pita bread, tsaziki and a fava bean dip with a betroot terrine. All were served home style and good serving sizes. We shared the lamb neck (devine and a must try!), half roasted chicken, chips with garlic dip and a village salad. The food was authentic, fresh and so tasty! We had quite a few cockatils and the bar men started serving us jugs of Margaritas even though jugs were not on the drink menu.
Service was good. My friend has an allergy to nuts and the starters we were served all had the nuts. He apologised profusely and allowed us to keep the starters and also had new ones made up which was nice and at no additional cost. He was attentive and friendly.
A must try in Melbourne to start a night of drinking!

Went for a stroll to see what we could see, and stopped for some dessert and a drink. The Spiced Syrup Revani Cake is heaven for your taste buds. Will definitely return for lunch.

Went there for lunch with friends and were helped to select a fabulous range of dishes to share and a great wine to drink. Service was prompt, friendly but unobtrusive. The dips were beautiful with home made flat bread as was the slow cooked lamb and the chicken meal - with a salad and some wonderful wedges, this was enough for four hungry adults. The view overlooking a stretch of the Yarra was lovely and the seating comfortable. Will definately return for another lunch and dinner.

We went for an early family dinner with young kids in tow. The food, service and wine were all fantastic. Unfortunately they don't really cater for children but I'm fairly sure that's not their target market! The kids however were well looked after and enjoyed playing right out the front on the wharf while the adults continued to enjoy the amazing wood fired sharing plates. If you love tapas and exceptional service then a Shed 5 visit is a must.

The food and wine selection, the atmosphere and service have all been fantastic whenever we've dined at Shed 5 in the short time it's been at South Wharf. The manager Tim and his team are warm and attentive hosts who make you feel very special no matter how busy they are.

The interior decor is very cool with one wall fully tiled in the number it's named after and another filled with shelves of old school tins and jars of sardines, anchovies etc which you'll find on the menu. There is also a private dining room which is heritage listed - perfect for a small group. Although you have the privilege of exclusivity, the windows allow you to feel as though you're still among the ambience of the other diners. We had the set menu and it is great value.

We cannot fault anything on the menu we've ordered so far. Although beware if you're having the Roast Pumpkin Manti, it's quite rich but so delicious you won't be able to stop yourself from finishing it! The home made flat bread and fava puree is amazing and I could happily consume this as a meal itself. If like us you're not familiar with some of the wines offered, we suggest the Querciabella Mongrana Maremma....a devine bottle of red.

Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
