This is a stunning, friendly restaurant to experience at night. The menu is limited - on purpose - so that the quality remains very high. The wait staff are attentive with excellent suggestions for food and wine to match. The flavours of the food are wonderful. Melbourne people should go regularly and visitors must go there to experience the depth of food culture in this city. We could hear ourselves talk, and the ambience was friendly, unpretentious and yet the food was of the highest standard.

Friends from Perth recommended we pay Bramble and Vine a visit while we were staying in Melbourne and we were not disappointed. From making the booking to dining there was a wonderful experience of friendly passionate owners and great food. Leila is a superb host, recommending and describing both wine and food in much detail. She really made you feel welcome to their smallish intimate restaurant. The wines served matched each course very well. Entrees included arancini balls and salt and pepper calamari (sliced NOT in rings - superbly cooked). Mains - fish of the day with salsa verde and mash and braised red wine veal meatballs with soft polenta and provolone. Leila suggested no additional sides to leave room for dessert and/or cheese and that was good advice! We completed the meal with the cheeseboard which was very well presented as was all the food. The addition of the pear puree, strawberry salad, honeyed walnuts and home-made lavosh and bread to the three great cheeses made this a fine finish to a most memorable meal. The restaurant is definitely one to be recommended.

Bramble and Vine have it all. Superb food. Elegant dining at it finest in an informal relaxed atmosphere. Both chef and front of house seem to be dedicated to ensuring our time spent at Bramble and Vine is a great experience on all levels. From quality local produce to sophisticated meals to presentation and last but not least and genuinely professional, kind and caring hostess Leila.
Bramble and Vine is now on our "regular" list. Oh yes Mussels to die for but don't die before you have the truly amazing beetroot entre.

We were staying with friends in Melbourne whilst on a holiday from Perth and they recommended we dine here.
It was a great experience, the lady at the front was entertaining, very knowledgable about wines and very friendly. She could not do enough to make us welcome.
The food was spectacular, well presented, cooked to perfection and a delight to behold.
Yes we had to wait a short while for our mains and dessert but the wait was well worthwhile.
We will certainly visit this restaurant again when we are next in Melbourne and have recommended it to quite a few of our friends.
Most enjoyable!

We arrived right on time. We had barely sat down than a rather officious woman came and announced that we would have to wait at least an hour for oue mains because they had only one chef (not our problem!) and because everyone else had arrived late we would have to wait. We had all decided that we would ony have main and dessert but the waitress demanded that we must have entrees first. They only thing they did well was filling up the glass so consequently by the time our mai course arrived I was too drunk to enjoy it. We had 2 vegetarians in our party who are fit and active young people who need to eat a reasonable amount to stay healthy. There main courses we silly little scraps of food on a tiny plate, more the size of an entree, 1 quail egg, a handful of micro greens and a dollop of something. Very expensive, had to pay $32 just for the protein and garnish and then extra for the side. We were assured forcefully that they prided themselves on cooking fresh. If I have to wait an hour and 20 minutes for my main I would rather have something precooked. It seemed more about the chefs ego than the customers they are supposed to serve. By the time my main arrived after having to eat a entree of pizza I didn't order and didn't want I was so fed up I couldn't eat it but was asked what the waitress could tell the chef as to why I hadn't eaten his precious steak! What a horrible night!
