“Holiday in Melbourne”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2013

I met a friend from UK and we had 7 nights at City Limits. Was perfectly located for China Town, the free trams and the parks. Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and was there during the Comedy Festival which we enjoyed. Will definitely go back to Melbourne for a holiday and will stay at City Limits for its convenience.

Room Tip: We were on the 7th floor facing Little Burke Street which was noisy in the morning when rubbish was...

This was our second 4 day stay in the last 12 months and we were still very satisfied. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. There is a basic kitchen and a light breakfast of toast & cereal is placed in the room daily which we found very suitable for our needs. Rooms are serviced daily and free internet service is available. It is an ideal location close to restaurants and easy walking distance to all parts of the central city area. We enjoyed our morning walks through the nearby Treasury gardens, Fitzroy gardens, the MCG and the river walk. Tram and train services are all nearby which was great for us to visit family and friends. There is a good laundry on the 2nd floor The staff are very helpful and always friendly. Highly recommended and we will be back.

I stayed at the City Limits for a weekend in early May 2013. The hotel is in a great location, being close to the tram routes (up the hill) and Chinatown, shops and main thoroughfare (downhill). We were in toown for an AFL match and it was an easy 15-20 minute walk to the MCG.
The hotel is only eight or nine storys, with 4 rooms in each floor. It never seemed busy during the stay. The room was a good size for two and was quiet. They provided bread, condiments and cereal for breakfast. The lift was tiny, but that didn't matter.
Front desk staff were helpful. All in all, a pleasant stay and I can recommend.

Booked a 3 night stay in May to go to the footy and shop. Location was excellent for what we needed. We could walk everywhere we needed to go and didn't have to worry about purchasing a Miki card for the trams. The free Circle Tram is only a 2 minute walk away for the day it was raining but otherwise we legged it everywhere; the MSG, QV markets, the city.
The light breakfast was fantastic. It meant we didn't need to rush out the door in the morning and it kept us going until linch. Free WiFi was excellent! There is a laundry on the 2nd floor - $3 for a wash/dry. The front desk were more than willing to arrange our airport transfers and on the day we were leaving stored our luggage for us until our late afternoon flight. While we were waiting for the bus pick-up we were able to sit in the front lounge area - where hot drinks are available.
The bed/pillows were super comfortable. Room was clean and functional. Bathroom had a bath under shower and was adequate. There were pump supplies of shampoo, conditioner, body wash.
We did hear the garbage trucks in the morning but only on the first night when we had our window open - the next night the shut double glazed windows kept most of the noise out.
Overall, for the price we paid, it was excellent. It's been a while since I've paid anything less than $150 a night for city accommodation. For it's location and the standard of cleanliness and service provided it was great.

Location wonderful easy to get around. King size bed was 2 singles joined together. Cleaning of room excellent and staff at reception very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the light breakfast included. As others have said it is noisy early in the morning with garbage trucks etc. even though we were on the 6th floor (facing Little Bourke Street). The only thing I did not like is what happened after we left. I'd filled out a survey left in our room prior to departure, I then found an email survey waiting when I got home, which I also completed. Be aware your comments on the email survey are published to City Limits facebook page with your first name and location, had I been aware of this I would not have completed it, I was under the impression feedback was for their personal use only. Requests to remove my comments have been ignored to date. I would not stay again.

Stayed 2 nights over a weekend. Loved the location at the top of Little Bourke St-handy to everything and better location than down near Swanston St Station where we have stayed before. Comfortable apartment with enough room for 3 adults and liked we all had shelf space by our beds and openable windows-its the little things that count. Useful having a kitchenette especially a fridge and the basic breakfast (cereal, long life milk, airline style juice containers, 2 slices toast and spreads) was good to tide those of us over who wake up at 5am (hubby looking at you) til its time for the rest of us to eat a more substantial meal. We did buy fresh milk for the rest of our stay. Room and bathroom was clean and our toiletries dispensers were about half full. Friendly reception staff. Good security-in response to an earlier post you can ask and receive more than one room tag. 24 hour reception was a bonus after a late night no frills airline arrival and not common for places in this price range.

We also found the noisy bottle collectors woke us far too early Sat am but we shut the windows and put on air con Sat night and didn't hear a thing. Stayed on the 4th floor. We would stay again.

Room Tip: The higher the better and facing away from Little Bourke St.

Stayed one night as we were going to a show at the Palace in Bourke St just around the corner. Nice room with huge king size bed, very comfortable. Shower was great, also a bath if you prefer.Kitchenette with microwave, kettle and toaster. Breakfast included in room rate, they supply you with bread to toast and jams etc, also small boxes of cereal and milk. We were in 402 but will try and get higher floor next time, woken by really loud bottle recycle trucks early in the morning, the only downfall. Great location next to the theatres and Chinatown etc. Easy check in and out, courteous reception staff..will stay again.
