It was only a short stay but value for money was very good in the 1br apartment I was in.

Spacious rooms with the bedroom placed in the room furthest from the lift. Blinds that closed completely (believe it or not this is something that many places just don't get right!).
Spotless room, lots of towels (not too keen on the soap dispenser in the shower), well lit and comfy bed with pillows that weren't too high.

The ironing board in the room was broken however a brand spanking new one was delivered within 5 minutes of calling down - with a follow up call to check if it had arrived and all was ok! Wanted a shower cap but there wasn't one. I guess if I had called down they would have sent somethign up but overall the amenities were sparse. This is pretty common in longer term stay places so not really unexpected.

Very central in the CBD however the Elizabeth Street facing rooms could probably get a little noisy withthe trams combined witht he current roadworks (not that I experienced this).
Bedrooms were unique as you could open the windows for fresh air which is something one tends to miss when cooped up in a hotel!

Service was friendly and accomodating and security was good.

Overall a very good solid apartment hotel for the short time I was there. Would stay again without hesitation.

We stayed here for Melbourne Cup. The service was fantastic. We had booked four rooms and I had asked they all be together - which they did for us. The rooms were quite roomy and clean. A little dark but there was plenty of lighting available. The two bedroom apartment was very spaceous. The location could not be better!! We also booked in March and got a great rate. The only negative to the room is that as it is on Elizabeth Street, you can hear the trams.

Stayed here for a week in a two bedroom apartment. Number of problems, nothing major but still annoying when put together. Arrived but had only 2 champagne glasses in the apartment so went down to the desk as neither of the phones worked in the apartment, for more glasses. Was told by desk staff will bring them up right away. 18 hours later they arrived at the door. Daily cleaning did not happen - had to ask for the apartment to be cleaned after 2 days and pilfered toilet paper off the cleaning trolley in the corridor as there wasn't any in the apartment after the first two days. Internet access is only by cable, what technology age does this hotel live in. Travel frequently and don't usually stay in under 4 or 5 stars. I am afraid I would struggle to make this 3 stars. Positives - great location. Unfortunately scored building site noise next door. Not their fault but!

Great place to stay. Central in the CBD walking distance to trams and most attractions.
Reception staff friendly and helpfull. Rooms cleaned everyday. Hotel position is within walking distance to free tram, also tram stop outside front door. We really enjoyed Melbourne including the rain.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room overlooking the construction site. No problems with noise.

We stayed at the Somerset for a girls shopping trip. Location was excellent, staff were friendly and helpful - 24hr service. The rooms were quite big, very clean and comfortable, had everything you need. The only downfall was the noise, it is on a busy road. I would recommend this hotel.

Excellent personal and service. Rooms look fresh and cleaned everyday. Hotel position is just in the middle of Center Business District and it's quite easy to reach any other place of the city from here. There is gym, sauna & spa available for free. Only bad thing is absence of WiFi in the room - only wired connection. Room itself is very good, there are even 2 TVs inside.

Room Tip: Choose the room from the west side, since there is a construction work outside from the east for the...

The Somerset was off to a great start - friendly and helpful staff at the front desk - which was 24hr service. The rooms were quite big and very comfortable, they had everything you could need. Price was OK - a bit expensive but it is Melbourne so you expect it. Central location was great and the only thing that ruined our stay was the rain :)
