This hotel is badly in need of repairs and general maintenance. In saying this, they were starting some repair work while we stayed there. Showers leaked, sinks leaked (and had towells under the leak!) , light bulbs were broken, mold in the bathrooms, railing was broken, bricks loose on interior walls, bunks squeaked all night (wirh our children on them), one child turned a switch and sparks came out.... On the other hand location is good and close to public transport.

Mould on bathroom walls, outdated everything, electric wires cut off and left hanging out of wall, toilets with stains, sheets were stinking. The only thing we enjoyed about it, it was 500m away from the MCG. Other than that it's terrible.

We booked this to go to the footy, so really just needed a place to sleep and walk to the MCG. Location is excellent, car parking available and room was very basic but adequate. It was clean enough, quiet and had tea and coffee making facilties.

Nothing to rave about, but clean, quiet and really close to city, Cooks cottage and the MCG. Far better than a backpackers and aas good value for couples, but not quite the standard of a hotel. On the extra plus side however, there is a kitchenette (toaster kettle and microwave)in each room .

Room Tip: All about the same

In Melbourne for the Australian Open with my daughter. Was given a room that had not been cleaned, had large holes in the walls, electricity wires running through the single bed, tiles in the shower were missing particularly on the floor so you would either catch a disease or cut your feet urine stains and hair on the toilet seat, the windows were smashed, the tv did not work, filthy sheets. We desperately tried to get somewhere else to stay but at short notice nothing available. I went to reception and was given another room that had apparently been cleaned. It too was disgusting with black hairs in the shower and when I turned back the sheets, black long hairs on the pillows and sheets. There was no undercover mattress protector. I approached the reception the next day to speak to the manager who advised me he was too busy to talk to me and would not look at me running away and then ignoring me again later. I will never ever stay at this place again. Do yourself a favour and spend a few dollars more for at least a decent standard. Appalling!!!

We arrived at 8:29 am with no booking, office closed till 8:30 and receptionist was right on time. She bent over backwards to get us a room straight away which we certainly didn't expect, we were more than happy to dump the car and head to the shops! The accommodation is pretty ordinary to say the least, the beds are old and hard as are the pillows but we slept like babies after a big day shopping, drinking and eating. Wouldn't stay for more than 1 night though. No toilet roll holders, a bit grubby, light fittings missing, a really noisy hot water service that only lasts one shower then turns cold (brrrrrr on a cold Melbourne Morning). It's just a flophouse! $110 probably about $20 too much really! And get in early to get a park!

Recently stayed here for Planetshakers Conference 2012. It's got a seperate bathroom, a microwave/fridge and air con. only a 10/15min walk to Hisense Arena. Sure it's not the prettiest thing on earth and most of the rooms smell like smoke, but if you want to see Melbourne & just have a bed to fall into at night, this is perfect. The place kinda grows on you and the cleaning staff are incredible. With tram stops practically on your door step, nice shops and stores only a 15min tram ride from the city, its home away from home for the budget conscious.

Room Tip: If you choose a room on the 'Powlett St' side of the building you have your own balcony &...
