We had this breakfast buffet available to us through our hotel accommodation package. Everything that you could want on offer, normal hot inclusions, egg bar, charcuterie bar was a nice inclusion plus normal continental inclusions.

Only key note was that quality of the buffet was different from weekdays to the weekend... The sat Sunday offerings seemed to be prepared better and looked nicer.

Please tell the chef to taste his homemade baked beans though... 3 days in a row those cannelini beans were hard!

What they don't do we'll is coffee! This was hands down the worst coffee I drank all weekend! And a long black in a short cappuccino cup wasn't working for me either,

Didn't get to eat dinner there, but the specials board hung up on the wall looked divine!

All of us really enjoyed the meal. We chose one of the more reasonable price wines and it was excellent. Would have preferred more choice at the $40 to $50 per bottle range for next time as I like variations.

I only became aware of the 'express lunch' deal at Mr Hive Kitchen and Bar at Crown Casino a few days ago, when my sister raved about her visit the week before. Her recommendation proved to be spot-on.

The lunch menu features a choice of three entrees, three mains and three desserts. Two courses cost $35, and three courses are $45 - both with a glass of house wine and tea/coffee, plus bread.

I chose two fish dishes: smoked trout for a starter and salmon for the main. Both were beautifully cooked and presented. The smoked trout sat on a bed of tiny cubes of potato and cucumber. The main came with asparagus, peas (fresh, not frozen), pea puree and tendrils.

My partner chose two pasta dishes: ravioli for starter and gnocchi for main. The first was a cold dish. Small ravioli filled with avocado were arranged artistically with edible flowers and pea tendrils. Almost too pretty to eat! The herb gnocchi was unusual. It was longer than usual and came with slices of mushroom arranged in a fan. Another artistic dish.

We shared a side of thick-cut potato chips that came to the table piping hot. Delicious! Our coffees were also hot, and both the red and white wines were excellent.

We were most impressed and will be back.

For a start...difficult to find. Plus staff have no idea either where it is. It's in the old Maze space so pretty devoid of atmosphere. I do have a pet hate and that is when they seat you, give you menus and then disappear for 10 mins. And that's what they did here. Ordered drinks and it took 10 mins. Place is less than half full. After that things improved and the food is good. Surprising given the start. Service needs to improve. And seriously...some complimentary bread given the prices wouldn't be a bad thing.

We went to Mr Hive on a Sunday afternoon and had the express lunch menu. Three beautiful courses with a glass of wine and a coffee for $45. The service was very good and the included wine a very nice Tasmanian Pinot Gris. The food was outstanding quality and presentation was second to none. I would highly recommend Mr Hive and will be going there again!
