Federation Square is the best meeting place in Melbourne. Right opposite the major train station Flinders St, there are lots of spots to sit down, enjoy the sun and watch the world go by. There is a great atmosphere and a large screen for major events and information on what is going on in Melbourne. The main information centre is there as well.

Without any public consultation this important site gets it's own Apple store. The worst part is we're told how lucky we are! What a joke!!!!

Federation Square was built in 2002 as a civic centre and cultural precinct for the Arts. Federation Square is located at the corner of Swanston Street and Flinders Street in the CBD just opposite Flinder's Street Railway Station.

Federation Square is the main hub for all major events in Melbourne. Federation Square host over 2000 events each year including cultural & festivals. The Ian Potter NGV, art gallery & the ACMI are located down stairs and with free exhibitions. There is also free Wifi access & plenty of cafes & restaurants

There is a lot going on in this central location. Interesting modern architecture in the Ian Potter Centre. Great location next to the Yarra river and across the street from Flinders street railway station and you just need to cross Flinders street to dive into the shops, restaurants, bars of the lane ways that make up an amazing cultural experience in Melbourne.

Federation square is the heartbeat of the city of melbourne ,across the road from the beautiful famous railway station, flinders street, right in the main hub for people watching, wonderful wine bars and restaurants, ab art complex in the fed centre ,close to all amenities ,the yarra river walk next door with a lovely promenade to walk or take a ferry ride along the river ,friday nights there is a buzz around the riverside outdoor pub ,everyone chats after work,or has a meal with lovely views, many events occur here, weekebds people walk their pets and ride their bicycles along the promenade or have picnics watch the rowing on the river lovely gardens also,a walk also leads you to the famous sporting arena the MCG which is a must as you walk you pass the famous tennis centre where the Australian open is held in January, rock concerts are held nearby, the famous st kilda rd can be walked also to walk or tram to premier spots on the way sunday markets across the road worth a visit, you can walk to southbank, where there are more restaurants, and the crown casino, there is a visitors centre in federation square, so much can be done from here, or just sit and take in melbournes atmoshere, highly recommended for a feel of melbourne ,and very safe also

Ok scenery is nice. But there are lots of nice places with better scenery and restaurants. They had an interesting exhibition on when we were there but its not that interesting given all the other awesome things and places to eat and see in melbourne
